Para mi la cosa mas increíble y misteriosa de la historia del arte se llama Joan Miró. No hablo de su persona, pues no lo conocí y tengo que suponer que era una bella persona. Hablo de su obra que para mí es la obra mas aburrida, mas mala y menos pensada de todas las que he visto. Si su propia familia no hubiera hecho la fundación donde se alberga su «arte», creo que sus cuadros estarían en el trastero… Pero bueno, para gusto los colores así que aquí os dejo algo sobre este «gran» artista catalán.

For me the most incredible and mysterious thing in Art History has a proper name: Joan Miró. And I am not referring to his person or to his personality. I never met him so I must assume that he was a wonderful chap. I am talking about his works of «art». It is the most boring, bad and least thought out body of work I have ever seen. If his family had not started his foundation, where his paintings are housed, I think they would have ended up in the storage shed…. But, there is something for everybody in art. So here I leave you with some of the «art» of this «great» Catalan painter.
Siempre me ha fascinado la fotografía. A veces pienso que la cámara es un instrumento mágico que logra captar la realidad, pero no la realidad que percibimos con los ojos, sino la realidad secreta, la que pasa desapercibida y muy, pero muy rápido. Algo así como la que existe en ese micro-segundo en un pestañar… Diane Arbus creo que se ha convertido en una de mis favoritos fotógrafos por la manera en que logró captar esos momentos efímeros y elusivos del ser humano. Es una mujer artista que hay que conocer.

Ihave always been fascinated with photography. I’ve come to look at the camera as a magical instrument capable of capturing a different reality, than that one we perceive it with our eyes. The unseen/unnoticed reality like the micro-gesture that exists within the briefest of moments, like in a wink of an eye… Diane Arbus, I think she has become one of my favourite photographers. She captures that ephemeral and elusive part of a human being. She is a woman artist that must be known and recognised.

La fotografía es lo que utilizo para documentar las cosas que veo, las cosas que hago y la gente que me encuentro en los rincones del mundo por donde busco arte y por donde me gusta andar. La cámara fotográfica en un instrumento fenomenal y casi mágico a través del cual uno puede descubrir tantas cosas que el ojo humano a veces ignora…
Primero: No creo en la espontaneidad en el arte. El proceso artístico es un proceso plasmado en la metodología, y requiere mucha planificación, investigación y mucha búsqueda. El arte no es una representación idéntica de la realidad, ni de los sentimientos, las emociones o el lenguaje, sino una interpretación artística. Digamos que tiene que pasar por un proceso similar al de un actor cuando se prepara para entrar en personaje. El actor no es ese que representa, ni sufre ni goza igual que ese personaje supuestamente lo hace, sino que te lo hace creer a través de su arte. Así también es la pintura…
Segundo: El temperamento artístico. Esas son excentricidades de algunos que quieren impresionar a la ciudadanía. No creo que exista. El arte se aprende y se desarrolla y el talento hay que sacarlo y nutrirlo currándoselo bien. Nada de temperamento tampoco.
Tercero: La inspiración es algo que dicen que hay que tener para crear. Algo que traen las musas. Si uno fuera esperar por la inspiración se pasaría la vida sentado con el pincel o la pluma o la guitarra en la mano toda la vida. La inspiración no existe. Lo que existe es la curiosidad, el deseo de buscar y el artista que busca encuentra. En fin, el artista no es un ser extraño lleno de inspiración, temperamento y espontaneidad. Es un tío, o una tía, como otro cualquiera que le gusta la expresión artística, la persigue, la estudia y la desarrolla, como lo hace un medico, un arquitecto o un soldado.

Photography is what I use to document the things that I see, the things I do and the people that I find in the corners of the world that I like to visit and where I search for art. The camera is a phenomenal instrument, almost magical and through its lens I can discover many things that the eye at times ignores…
But now let me get to responding to the questions posed in the article posted on 23 JAN 2023 at 1800 hours:
First: No, I don’t believe in the spontaneity of art. The process of art is a methodical one and it requires much planning, investigating and researching. Art is not an identical representation of life, or of feelings or emotions. It is their artistic (contrived) representation. Let us say that art has to go through a process similar to that of an actor as he prepares his role and builds his character. The actor does not really feel the pain or the joy of that character, but he makes you believe he does through his art. Painting is like that as well…
Second: Reference artistic temperament. I think those are eccentricities that some put on to impress civilians. I do not believe it really exists. It is part of the show. Art is learned and developed and talent is gained only through hard work. No, I pass on temperament too…
Third: Inspiration is something that «they» say one needs to create. A gift from the Muses. If one were to wait for inspiration one would sit with brush, pen or guitar in hand forever. Inspiration does not exist. What does exist is curiosity, the desire to learn, to discover, to search and the artist that searches finds. In the end, an artist is not some strange being full of inspiration, temperament and spontaneity. An artist is an ordinary human being that likes and wants to express him/herself artistically. He pursues the career, studies, learns and develops his/her art, just like a doctor, an architect or a soldier.

Pintar, dibujar, crear obras de arte de cualquier tipo, requiere que el artista se comprometa, con algo. Quizá con el progreso mismo del arte, o con buscar un lenguaje nuevo para comunicarle al mundo inconfundibles verdades, o mentiras, o nada particular. Pero el arte tiene que tener filosofía y espiritualidad para que llegue. Yo siempre supe que quería hacer dos cosas en la vida. Una, ser soldado y la otra ser poeta. Fui soldado, en una época de mi vida, que pasó, pero el soldado sigue vivo en mi porque aparece claramente en mis costumbres, mi manera de pensar, en mi criterio politico-social, en mi entrenamiento, que me ha durado toda la vida y en mi disciplina. El poeta siempre anduvo hombro con hombro con el soldado y ahora, aunque se ha desprendido un poco, sigue batallando la poesía inherente en la expresión plástica, musical y escrita. Aquí os brindo algunas de mis primeras obras que lograron reconocimiento internacional, y aunque no se donde estarán, se que adornan las colecciones de muchos amantes del arte.

To paint, to draw, to create art in any one of its forms, requires that the artist commits to something. Maybe with the progress of art. Or maybe with the search for a new language to speak to the world and transmit unmistakeable truths, or lies, or nothing at all. But art has to be built upon philosophy and spirituality so that it reaches everybody. I always knew I wanted to do two things in my life. One was to be a soldier and the other was to be a poet. I was a soldier once and although those days have passed, they still live in me because I see it clearly in my habits, my customs, my ways. In my idiosyncrasies and in my social and political criterions. As well as in the training that I got that has lasted throughout my life. And of course, my sense of discipline. The poet always walked shoulder to shoulder with the soldier. Now, although they have drifted slightly apart, the poet continues to go to battle in fields like painting, music and the written word. Here I bring to you some of the first paintings that I did which acquired international recognition. Although I don’t know where they are now, I know they are brightening up collections of art lovers from many places of the world.
