For me, art can be spiritual, but religious art doesn’t have the same affect – but that’s only ny take on it Francesc. I see the two as different things, but I suspect you think that they’re intertwined.

No, not at all. Religious art was as «decorative», let us say, as van Gogh’s Sunflowers. I am was thinking more along the lines of the spirituality perhaps inherent in the colour, the shapes, the lines, the forms and the compositions used to create art… Thanks Malc and all the best.

Nowadays, I hear many people refer to themselves as spiritual instead of religious. I think that religious art often focuses on the relics and stories of a particular faith or religion, whereas spiritual may not draw on a predefined canon. It is probably a continuum where the artist may define it one way and the viewer another. It may also depend upon whether one is a believer or a perceiver. 😉

I see art as a personal journey, be spiritual, be self expression, be interpretation of the world around the artist. I cannot help but thing art influences the artist firstz then the viewers.

Para mí el arte tiene mucho de espiritual, sin que por eso tenga nada que ver con la religión. Es un acto creativo que procede de lo más profundo y verdadero del que lo crea. Ese es para mí el verdadero arte. Luego hay otra cosa que tb puede llamarse arte. Arte comercial por ejemplo. Bueno no sé si lo.he dejado claro.

Lo has dejado claro Azurea y te lo agradezco. Yo también comparto ese criterio. No creo que la espiritualidad tenga necesario algo que ver con la religion, ni la religion con la espiritualidad. Yo me refiero a algo intrínseco en el proceso artístico que surge del mismo espíritu, o sea de mas allá de los cinco sentidos. Lo has dicho muy bien. Un saludo.
