#art, How about André Butzer…

(Photo Banditto Art)

Now this is an artist I was not familiar with at all, and it doesn’t surprise me because I do not like any of his works. So why am I writing about him? Because he is an artist, he is part of Art History and because one of my favourite museums in Madrid, the Thyssen-Bornemisza is doing a retrospective of his work….

André Butzer was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1973 (then West Germany). He now lives in Rangsdorf, a small, but beautiful municipality not far from Berlin. He is supposed to be a «semi-abstract» painter, (whatever that is, if someone knows, please explain it to me). His main interest, supposedly, are comics. His work, as you will see, is infantile and rather naif. He uses mainly (I would even venture to say exclusively) primary colours, unmixed and most likely just squeezed from the tube. He doesn’t seem to me to spend too much time thinking about composition or colour scheme and when it comes to titling his work he doesn’t even think at all as most of his paintings are titled «Untitled.»

Most of his exhibitions have been in his native land and this retrospective in Madrid is the only one he has ever had outside of it. Here are some of the paintings (22 in total) that you will see should you choose to attend.

#art, Comenzando y progresando en Omnia Caelum Studios…

(«Flamencana» Imagen propiedad de FBC/Derechos Reservados/Image property of FBC/All Rights Reserved)

(«Hello Ringo» by FBC/Omnia Caelum Studios Valencia/All Rights Reserved)

Ringo was the funny Beatle, the drummer of whom John Lennon said wasn’t even the best drummer in The Beatles (knowing that Paul was an excellent drummer) but we’ve come to love this little chap. We wish him long years and much creativity. Surprisingly (to the other Beatles) when the band broke up they thought he might have a rough go at it, but as it is, Ringo did smashing good. Always been a fan. So here is the «song» for the middle of the week, really it is more than one song, so enjoy the concert of the Ringo Starr All Star Band!

Cheers…

#travel, «Cienfuegos, Cuba» (Tercera parte/Part Three)

(Playa Rancho Luna/Rancho Luna Beach/Foto/Photo Pinterest)

As I conclude this pictorial trip to this beautiful city… And like I said in the other two previous videos («Cienfuegos, la Perla del Sur» y «Cienfuegos, Segunda Parte«), I am not trying to give publicity to a country governed by a communist dictatorship, cruel, anachronistic and tyrannical that reduces its citizens to vassals and subjects them to severe restrictions of freedom, but to whoever wants to go, even knowing this, then don’t miss a visit to the southern coast and this marvellous city, the «Pearl of the South.»

(Bahia de Cienfuegos/Bay of Cienfuegos/Foto/Photo D-Cuba)

Well, like I had said in the previous video, «CienfuegosI am not in favour of travel to countries dominated by communist governments, but if you must visit Cuba, do not miss a trip to this beautiful city on the southern coast, the «Pearl of the South.»
