#poetry, «Like Words in the Sky»

Like Words in the Sky

Like dry leaves in the wind they try to fly, to flutter, twirl
and move from place to place without a care,
these are my words that, formless, yet with energy,
up to the sky they rise…

My thoughts, turning to images that want to soothe, to please, caress,
and move my own emotions through my soul,
are made with words that travel fast,
sometimes so fast I cannot stop them,
sometimes I’m wishing I could change,
polish, align and rearrange,
those very thoughts that launched such words into the sky…

Like a bird that learns to fly by taking one more step outside the nest,
then glides from place to place without a care,
my words, alive with power, want to fly,
and in the sky they’ll kiss the winds that made them rise…

I write with words upon the sky each time I speak,
I paint a picture trying to reach
the very thought that made me wonder,
the very thought that made me smile,
that guides my feet mile after mile.

«The Jazz-Man» a forgotten oval Bodo…

(«The Jazz-Man», acrylic on canvas, by FBC. Image property of FBC, Omnia Caelum Studios Valencia. All Rights Reserved)

This painting was from my OCS Miami days. I think it was from 2003. It was sold to a collector in Louisiana and I had totally forgotten about it because I had forgotten to photograph it. But today I received an email from the collector and it included these photographs.

I always liked the piece, not only because of its bright colours and soulful composition, but because it was one of only three oval pieces I have ever painted. The oval measures about 45 cm across and about 52 cm in length.

Music for this Sunday Morning: «Cotton Fields»

(Huddie Ledbetter, Leadbelly)

«Cotton Fields» was written by American (US) musician Huddie Ledbetter, known as Leadbelly. He recorded it in 1940.

There have been many covers, I think the most popular was by Creedence Clearwater Revival, from their album Willy and the Poor Boys (1969).

Funny enough (at least for me) was that The Beach Boys also recorded their own version in 1968 with Al Jardine singing…

There are many more covers, including from such great artists like Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and even Elton John. But it seems to me, like most things, the original is my favourite.

Check them out, tell me what you think.

Cheers…

Poem: «Woman»

(Art Digital “Woman” by FBC. All Rights Reserved)

I have been shaken by so many women,

women of steel,

women of fire,

whose will is fulfilled

with their love and desire.

Desire to teach, to guide, to console,

they’ve stood firm in their tracks,

knowing full well their role.

From the woman who stood at the side

of the world’s greatest teacher,

to the one who reigned over an empire,

to the one who fought bravely for science,

to the one who caressed me when crying,

I’ve been moved,

and impressed,

I’ve been taught,

I’ve been blessed.

I’ve been shaken by so many women

and I know that forever I will.

A Little Abstract Art (Inspired by the skies of Miami)

(«Sunset No. 1». Image property of FBC, Omnia Caelum Studios Valencia. All Rights Reserved)

This is digital art. The original was a photograph of a very dramatic sunset, like the ones we see around here most evenings…

Then came the process of turning a figurative image into an abstract one…

Abstract art has to have a reference, as all art does, the rules do not change…

I am not a real big fan of abstract art but I do find creating abstract art a very valuable exercise for creating figurative art as well. The process is the same. You must determine your palette, your size, your style, the composition and how it will be placed on the canvas (or paper), and then how to be true to your reference (internal for abstract art) so that it communicates your ideas and elicits an emotional reaction (hopefully).

I do not interpret my art. It is enough for me to create it. Interpretation is up to you…

So, since it is your job to interpret, tell me what these images mean…
