Inquiétant, yes so disquieting…

But isn’t life like that sometimes? Undoubtedly it is although we try to forget those times or those moments or even those people who made us feel inquiétant…

To contrast and compare with many of my earlier works I will leave you this:

#poetry, «Government»

(Image property of FBC, Omnia Caelum Studios València, All Rights Reserved)

The government is like a jazzman, improvising, however, with one main difference, the jazzman knows what he is improvising upon…

The Government…

it works…it doesn’t

it’s valid and not valid…

It abuses, destroys and devours its children and safeguards its corruption,

and although it says it loves the youth of the nation, it sends them off to kill and be killed, in their own cities as well as in some far, far away…

So, what is the government good for?

So, do we need it or not?

If we think of it with great limitations, it works,

but if it meddles with our individual liberties,

with the life of the people,

with our morality,

with our religion,

with our culture and traditions,

then we don’t need it…

The government is not qualified to involve itself in the lives or in the work of businessmen, artists, and other professionals, technicians or workers of the land. They know how to do their job, they, nor any of us, need the government to be our fathers, teachers or baby-sitters.

Let the government defend our borders, that’s what they should do!

Let the government provide for our basic necessities without charging us an arm and a leg! Every worker deserves his due and has a God-given right to live a dignified life. And we are all equal, we are all workers of the nation.

And let them not think that we have to kowtow to them. They are not divinely placed, we don’t want kings.

The people govern the people for the good of the people. Each group should have their own leaders that know what each group does in society, what they make, and they produce for they know how to guide their operations. The people do not need ministers sitting in their high seats at the Ministry to impose upon them rules and regulations they know nothing about. The masses fine tune their functions with the pulleys and experience of the workers that guide the praxis of production…

So, what is government good for?

Very little, and that is how it should stay…

(Image property of FBC, Omnia Caelum Studios Valencia. All Rights Reserved/Derechos Reservados)

Sirve y no sirve…

Vale y no vale…

¿Sirve o no sirve?

entonces no sirve…

(1993)

Disfrutadla y bailadla…

«What is Love» was released as a single from the LP The Album by the Trinidadian-German Eurodance artist Haddaway in 1993. Great tune! Well, for me 1993 was a magical and unforgettable year so all the songs from that year I tend to really like and this is certainly one of them…

Enjoy it and dance!

And I want to remind you of this great song that we sang so much back in ’93…

El arte es mi faena – Art is my Job (Esp/Eng)

(Image property of FBC, All Rights Reserved)

__________________________________________________________________________________

If you think that art is something magical, mystical or that you have to be born with special qualities to be an artist or to make art, you would be wrong. If you think that talent is something you are born with, or God-given, or some kind of genetic inheritance, you would be wrong as well.

Art is an acquired trait. You learn it, you study it, you develop it. You go to uni, it is a career path, like Medicine or Law. It is a course of superior learning. You can go to a conservatory or a private academy, or study under a professional. Or if you have the discipline, you do it yourself, not as an auto didactic, but learning from books, videos, or as you research the art form you are after. The Beatles didn’t have formal education in the arts, but they learned as they went and they learned fast and they learned much to become what they became.

Now talent. Talent is something you develop. The only way is through hard work. The great actor, director, teacher and theorist Konstantin Stanislavski, founder of the Moscow Art Theatre, said of talent: “Talent is nothing but a prolonged period of attention and a shortened period of mental assimilation.” And what does that mean? That you must apply yourself to the craft of your art, dispel your mind, and work it as long and as hard as possible. There is no mystery, there is no genetics.

Although anyone can be an artist, as anyone can be a doctor or a lawyer, not everyone wants to…

We should bear in mind that for the artist, art is a job to earn a living, like any other job. And yes, you do it for the money, like William Shakespeare did.

(Shakespeare retired from writing at the age of 47 because he had made enough to live the rest of his life in comfort)

What is Art?

(Konstantin Stanislavski)

A very popular question, not only on this blog, but throughout…

I have studied many methods, beginning with acting, dance and painting, and I have found the most impressive and profound statements to the meaning of art from the writings of Konstantin Stanislavski. Here are some of his quotes and theories on Method Acting, which in my opinion, apply to all the arts.

I suggest you listen to the soundtrack, a piano improvisation on minor chords that I created for the mood of this video.

Dear Diary, p. 2333

(Image property of FBC, Omnia Caelum Studios Valencia. All Rights Reserved)

Hello my friends! Hope you are all having a splendid Sunday! Here in Valencia we eat paella on Sundays at dinner time (2:00 pm) in the sidewalk cafes, bars and restaurants of our city, hope you enjoy your Sunday tradition as well.

I just wanted to touch a point on art, poetry and the creative process of writing or painting. Of course it applies to all the arts as well.

I learned in Art School at uni that «raw emotion is not art», and I liked the idea. It took me a while but I understood that what I read, what I watch, what I observe in a painting or in a ballet, is not a slice of life, or a fraction of reality. It is something invented, contrived, manipulated, polished, touched-up, rehearsed and made ready as art. Art is rehearsed, planned, prepared. Emotions are not. That is why artists manipulate emotions.

I do not write about myself, my life, my friends, my relationships or my emotions. I may dive deep into the resources of my memory to pick out certain things that may have caused me laughter, pain, sorrow or joy and then begin to work on them artistically. That is why I am adamant about saying that art is not spontaneous nor intuitive. Art is crafted, thought about, created, yes, from something, but into something else.

What do you think? What are your theories? Does this differ from what you were taught at uni, or in the great uni of life? Let me know.

Cheers…

Querido diario, p. 2333

Gracias…

#poema, «Ese día»

(Foto propiedad de FBC, Omnia Caelum Studios Valencia. Derechos Reservados)

(Version del 7 de agosto 2022)

Ese día no llegará,
pero otro sí.
A aquel lugar jamás regresarás
