LYNETTE YIADOM-BOAKYE

#art, «Abstract Art No.33» Fine Art Print

(Image property of FBC/Omnia Caelum Studios Valencia/All Rights Reserved)

This image (brand new) I have just uploaded to my gallery at Fine Art America, the company that I have trusted to provide you with fine art prints of some of my selected works, making them more affordable and available to many. «Abstract Art No.33» can become a wood print, a metal print, a poster, a framed print or a canvas print, as well as other interesting things you can check out here. These galleries I change often, so visit often…

Abstract art is a very complex form of visual expression which was developed in the 20th Century. Some think that it was «invented» by Vassily Kandinsky but now it looks like a woman artist Hilma af Klint preceded him by several years…

#art, Return to the Boardwalk That’s No Longer There…

(Metal print of «Towards Fantasy» – All Rights Reserved)

This fine art print is of my image «Towards Fantasy» printed on metal. But Fine Art America can have the image printed on artists paper, canvas, wood, or have it framed or made into a poster or somethings else… I have authorised several images to be made into fine art prints through Fine Art America and this is my virtual gallery which you can visit (and visit often because I edit it often and replace images). This company handles everything from the sale to the delivery and I know from lovers of art which have purchased, that the quality is excellent and the delivery is fast.

The image is of the old boardwalk that existed in Miami Beach, Florida. It went for several kilometres alongside the dunes of the beach. Sadly the City of Miami Beach allowed the structure to deteriorate to the point that it had to be torn down and replaced with the beach-walk, a cement path along the same route of the old boardwalk. It is very nice, but not the same thing.

VIOLENCIA DOMESTICA by Francisco Bravo

Magdalena Abakanowicz

Magdalena Abakanovicz

I did not know this Polish artist and sculptor. She died in 2017 at the age of 86 years and was born in Falenty, Poland in 1930. She became famous in the 1960’s with her woven sculptures and tapestries that looked like authentic murals. From those surged her great work Abakan that won the Grand Prize at the Brasil Biennale (Sao Paulo) in 1965. Later, in the 1970’s the tapestries started to take on human form and she created human figures, animals and birds, all woven with yute and other fibers. Magdalena Abakanovicz also dedicated herself to teaching and taught at the School of Arts of Poznan and was invited, in 1984, to be a visiting professor at the University of California, Los Angeles.

We all have to get to know these women artists, regardless of whether or not we like their work. They must be given their rightful place alongside male artists of the same calibre. The Tate Gallery in London is exhibiting her work Abakans in the Blacatnik Building of the Tate Modern.

#poem, «SEARCH»

(The terraces of València/FBC/Omnia Caelum Studios Valencia/All Rights Reserved)

Who will take my hand?
Who will extend theirs to me?
Who can change my life?
Is it even possible?
I search…
Among the villains of the town,
the wise ones that look down
upon the holy…
They’ll never see a miracle,
they only share their miseries
in shot glasses,
at the bar at five o’clock,
gin tonic time…

Share with me your bilious libations,
your anger, your tears
of bitter nights
wrapped in the smoke
of hundreds of cigarettes,
in the dark,
damp,
room
where you store your precious heart…

I’m a hunter on your trail,
escaping me there is no chance,
the heavens will smile down upon my dance.
And you will reach the sea,
the waters that refresh,
renew,
give life to few brave pilgrims
that approach in silence
so the earth won’t cry…

And I truly hope the earth won’t cry
and that the sea refreshes you,
and that the forests and the valleys warm your body
and that the wind speaks of the loves you’ve left behind…
And that those voices that you hear
sing you a song of light and wonder,
to scare away the shadows,
to scare away the black and bitter sorrow
that you’ve harboured,
quite enamoured of its pleasures,
passionate and vulgar,
caressingly divine,
insane alive with fulgor,
but sour, like bad wine…

And I will search,
search through your smokescreens,
your unbearable delights,
for a hand that reaches skyward,
for a lantern in the night,
for the luck to win your mercy,
for the rhyme to win your heart,
for the smallest,
tiny particle,
the spark…

#art, Los cuadros son filosofía visual – Paintings are Visual Philosophy

(Image property of FBC, Omnia Caelum Studios Valencia/All Rights Reserved)

THE PAINTER – THE PAINTING – ART

The painter thinks, develops ideas, makes sketches, tries new things, old things, things…

A painting does not start with the first brush stroke or the first line upon a paper. No. It starts in the neurons of the artist and from there, thanks to the synapsis the impulses reach the hands, the fingers and the idea that had been bouncing around the neurons transforms into an image on paper, or canvas, or something else, wood or metal…

Art is not just something used to decorate your salon, or something to study, to discuss et cetera et cetera. Art is the result of thought. It is the visual version of an idea. Therefore art is a spiritual exercise and philosophy. It has, within its dimensions…colour, composition…logic, form, intention and replies. It is a telegram made with ink, pencils, colours in oils or acrylics on paper or canvas…
