#artvideo, Leonora Carrington – Surrealist Painter

(«Leonora» by Francisco Bravo Cabrera/All Rights Reserved)

Leonora Carrington was classified as a surrealist painter, however, she was much more than just that. She painted mythology, history, literature and she wrote extensively and sculpted. She thrived in Mexico City and died in her home there in 2011. She was a true feminist, not one of those dedicated to the destruction of the male gender, and a founding member of the Feminist Movement of Mexico which began in the 1970’s.

#music, A Song for Thursday, (the Middle of the Week)

(Felix Pappalardi/Leslie West/Mountain/1970/San Francisco/photo Goldmine Magazine)

You see, the thing about music is that it is organic, it is developing, growing, making new sounds, renewing itself and reaching beyond expectations. Musicians that you love, because you love their style or type of music, listen to much more music than you do, and they listen to many styles that you don’t even probably care for. That is what keeps them growing, and keeps you buying their work, which you should as we all should support art in any way that it comes…

Well, with «Mississippi Queen» by Mountain you can hear all of that hard work… Rock music evolved (and not a reference to Darwin) and developed with the artistry of all those who participated, that continue to participate and will participate always because Rock and Roll is here to stay and Rock and Roll will never die!

Enjoy…

#art, La abstraccion en Omnia Caelum Studios – Abstract Art at Omnia Caelum Studios

(Por las terrazas de Cabanyal/The bars of Cabanyal/FBC/Derechos Reservados/All Rights Reserved)

Abstract Art… Well, I never tire of talking about abstract art because there is a lot, a lot to talk about… But what really irks me is that a lot of «artists» think that to make an abstract painting all you have to do is spread. splash, drip or rub paint on a canvas or on any other surface. And it is nothing of the sort. Abstract art comes out of an art movement, it was one of the vanguards of the XXth Century. To create an abstract painting you need an internal reference, as a painter, and you will face the same problems that you would when creating a figurative one. And finally, to paint abstract paintings you need to know how to paint figuratively. Good, valuable art is hard to create.
