A little trip south of Valencia on the Mediterranean Coast of Alicante you reach «La Costa Blanca» and it is a beautiful area. Some of its beaches are precious and one of its most beautiful places is the Island of Tabarca.

Dear Diary, page #5 – Four Steps to a Better Existence

If you asked me what my formula for how to make a better world, I would not hesitate to reply that it must be governed by artists, poets, writers, playwrights, composers, dancers, choreographers, musicians and all those who have worked to educate themselves, better themselves and through that effort have tried to make a better world, govern. I do believe the Czech Republic started out that way after they rid themselves of communist oppression.

1- To make the country better we need to change the government right away. The wise have to be allowed to govern, like in Ancient Greece, who was governed by wise men of philosophy. Politicians are motivated by greed, ego and the quest for power. Some are so enamoured of power that they force their people to behave in ways that no one wants to, at least no one who loves freedom.

2-We have to educate our youth much better than we are doing now. Schools should not be centres of indoctrination as they are now. They should be places to form those who will eventually hold the reins of the country. In schools there should be, above all else, discipline, order and respect. Students have the obligation to respect their teachers, to obey them and to perform all their duties according to the norms and to complete their assigned work. They will have time enough for free expression, something typical and admired in youth. But first they must learn to be correct and respectful citizens. Peace depends on justice and justice on education.

3- We have to know how to be one with nature. We are not extra-terrestrials. We are part of the Earth as much as plants, animals, the wind, the clouds, the seas and everything else that lives in our environment. The Earth has consciousness and wisdom and we must learn to approach such knowledge. There are many ways and most of them lead to wisdom. We must learn to close our mouth and open our ears for at times the wind itself speaks to us and comforts our weary souls.

4- Finally, man must purify himself. We must let the spirit, the Great Spirit of our existence to create in us a pure heart and to renew us from the inside. Alone we are not, together, united with the Spirit, we are…

Well it is late April but it is beginning to feel like summer here in our Mediterranean coast… The temperatures are slowly rising above 30 degrees (Celsius) and the sun is bright in the sky. The days are long and the breeze is refreshing, as are our warm Mediterranean waters. So this means that it is the perfect time to get away and enjoy the coastal cities and beaches. A little later they will be so crowded that you will not even be able to walk from the chiringuito* to the water without stepping over…or on…oily bodies of northern sun worshippers. These fine folk come to Spain seeking what no other country in Europe can give them.

So I did my first trip of the year to a beautiful place, just about two hours by car from Valencia, the island of Tabarca. I drove to a small town south of the city of Alicante, called Santa Pola and from there I took the ferry to the island of Tabarca. It’s just a 20 minute boat ride and you reach this beautiful little paradise on the Mediterranean Sea.

Tabarca is a small island with many restaurants and most importantly, surrounded by little calas (coves) where one can sunbathe, swim, relax, meditate and thoroughly enjoy nature in all its most wonderful aspects. There are also hotels on the island and did I mention restaurants and bars? Full of them…

El color es la ilusión, la esperanza y la belleza de la creación…

Omnia Caelum Studios es y siempre ha sido mi sueño y a veces me da la impresión que realmente lo es… pero la vida se impone y la realidad nos hace poner los pies firmemente sobre la tierra. Hacer arte no es soñar, es currar. He dicho muchas veces aquí que el artista tiene que reivindicarse con cada pieza que hace y así lo es. El trabajo artístico es precisamente eso, trabajo. Al trabajar el artista va desarrollando su talento y ampliando su panorama visual y creando con más y más facilidad y aparente espontaneidad.

Yo digo que el arte, o sea un cuadro, una pintura, es filosofía visual ya que es un lenguaje y una forma de comunicar ideas, emociones y todos los pensamientos que se les pueda ocurrir al artista y al observador. Por eso siempre he dicho que el hacer un cuadro es cosa complicada, no es cosa intuitiva como lo que hacen los niños cuando se sientan a pintar o a dibujar. Para que un cuadro sea arte tiene que tener referencia, influencia, voluntad, color, forma, tema, composición, tamaño et cetera et cetera…

Quiero ahora mostraros mis cuadros a todo color. Claro, este vídeo es de 2020 y hay muchos mas ahora, pero bueno, en esos momentos también habían muchos con colores vibrantes y brillantes. Venga, ojalá os guste…

Aquí (en el vídeo) tenemos una verdadera maestra de la fotografía. Una gran mujer artista que la historia no le ha dado el crédito y el reconocimiento que se merece, pero nosotros si se lo daremos. Conocedla bien todos vosotros, aquí, porque no hay muchos que hablen de ella…

De las grandes artistas que ha dado España, Remedios Varo tiene que estar entre las primeras… Hay que conocerlas a todas las grandes artistas de España y del mundo entero, pero también hay que saber reconocer el verdadero talento de cada una de ellas y Remedios Varo, en mi opinion, debe estar en el puesto numero uno…

Of the great artists (female artists) that Spain has given art history, Remedios Varo has to be among the top… We have to get to know all the great female artists of Spain and the rest of the world. But we must also recognise who had talent and who did not. Among the talented ones, Remedios Varo should rank number one…
