It was in Miami, 2017, and I dedicated myself to painting black and white all year, and now I show you some of the drawings that resulted from such effort. Many of them have already been sold (contact «By Guloshka» representative, guloshka404@gmail.com), but there are still many available…

We were shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Jimmy Buffet on 01 SEP 2023 in Sag Harbor, New York. The man who inspired us all to drink margaritas and to head for the Keys succumbed to skin cancer. He was always one of my favourite singer-songwriters. I had some of his records but I knew very little about him. I did love his songs, loved his stories and truly appreciated the way he portrayed all those ports of call, so far away and so exotic. And since he often wrote about boats and sailing and that was my cup of tea, I genuinely admired him. He wrote so many iconic hits, like «Cheeseburger in Paradise» (1978); «Come Monday» (1974);»Fins» (1979); «Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes» (1977); and «Son of a Son of a Sailor» (1978), among so many more. So, to wrap up this tribute I can’t do anything else but to bring you…
Cheers…

Let us start at the beginning… According to his website, Jimmybuffet.com: Jimmy was born on Christmas day 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi and raised in the port town of Mobile, Alabama. As a youngster he learned to play the guitar and soon had a band which made their way to New Orleans where they ended up playing six nights a week on Bourbon Street…
His website says that: After graduation, Jimmy headed to Nashville to work for Billboard Magazine and to try his luck as a folk-country singer, releasing his first record, «Down To Earth» in 1970. However it was a fateful trip to Key West, Florida with Jerry Jeff Walker in 1971 that would give Jimmy the inspiration to merge his musicality, wanderlust and storytelling.
Let’s take a listen to some of these old songs…
Cheers…

Ojalá…

He left us too soon, much too soon and we’ll miss him, but of all people, I think Jimmy would like all his fans to celebrate his life, perhaps with a cold Margarita, than to just feel sad and sorry he passed. Rest in peace Jimmy* in that Margaritaville up in the sky where it’s five o’clock always! Cheers!
So to start this week’s «Musical Thursday the Middle of the Week» I bring to you one of my favourite Jimmy Buffet songs, not one of his most popular, but I love the music and the message of this tune…
Cheers…

Son animales muy pintorescos diría yo…
