Poco andan. Poco quedan.
Todos bailan.
La raza se escurre entre barrancos
con etiquetas desteñidas: made in USA.
Ojos del secuestrador tras la balaclava.
Manos astilladas por la guataca
tejiendo hilos rojos y negros.
no piden agua:
los brazos levantados hacia una luz
pero la lluvia no baja.

GRACIAS
What a powerful and thought-provoking poem. Francisco Bravo Cabrera paints America not as a simple geography, but as a landscape of history, inequality, memory, struggle, and resilience.
I was particularly struck by the vivid imagery throughout the poem—the grandmother’s stove, worn-out soles, the rhythm of drums and maracas, faded labels, and hands hardened by labor. These images create a deeply human portrait of people whose stories are often overlooked.

I liked it much better than to call it tepid.

Cool. What do you mean by a “tepid” poem.
