Yukimasa Ida, artista japonés de 32 años homenajea a Picasso en la ciudad natal del pintor español, Málaga. La expo es en el Museo Casa Natal de Picasso y muestra 44 obras. Cierra el 2 de octubre y forma parte de la III Semana Cultural de Japón celebrada a la sazón en esa ciudad.

Yukimasa Ida, a 32 year old Japanese artist, has created a tribute to Picasso exhibited in Málaga, Picasso’s birthplace. The exhibit is at the Museo Casa Natal de Picasso and is composed of 44 works exhibited until October 2. This event forms part of the Third Japanese Cultural Week celebrated in this Andalusian city.

De Yukimasa Ida, según dice su biografíamas o menos…es que ha nacido en la ciudad de Totori, Japón en 1990. Ahora vive y trabaja en Tokyo. Su obra oscila entre la abstracción y el realismo y suele hacer obras impregnadas de nostalgia. Aparentemente su estilo muy peculiar de distorsionar las figuras crea una cierta ambigüedad y casi se hace un performance.

According to Yukimasa’s bio…more or less…it says that he was born in the city of Totori (1990) but he is now based in Tokyo. His works balance themselves out between abstraction and realism and supposedly are filled with nostalgia. Apparently his manner of distorting figures creates a certain ambiguity and they become somewhat of a performance.

Yukimasa tiene algunas coincidencias con Picasso, pues ambos tuvieron un padre artista también, el de Picasso pintor y el de Yukimasa escultor y ambos perdieron un buen amigo en la juventud. Creo que también ambos comparten un gran amor por la vida.

Yukimasa has some coincidental points with Picasso. For example, they both had fathers who were artists, Picasso’s a painter and Yukimasa’s a sculptor. And as well they both lost a close friend during their youth. I also believe that they both share a great love for life.

No entiendo como se le ocurrió al compositor, o al libretista escribir una canción acerca de las cuevas de los «majases» y como un tío llamado Felipe Blanco se las tapó.

Y para los que no lo saben, en Cuba, aparentemente, hay una especie de serpiente, posiblemente del genus de la boa, que se llama majá.

¿Que aporta el arte digital al mundo del arte o a la vida de un artista? ¿Significa que el arte convencional, el de toda la vida, esta camino a convertirse en algo obsoleto? O ¿Será que el camino ha cambiado de sentido y ahora si no eres un artista digital no figuras ya como alguien que aporta algo con fuerza, originalidad y vigencia?

Pues ninguna de esas preguntas son validas. El arte digital (Art Digital) es una herramienta mas para los artistas. Vais a ver que también lo es el IA (inteligencia artificial) y los NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens). Ninguna de estas cosas va a cambiar el rumbo del arte. Los pintores siempre pintaran con oleo o con acrílico sobre tela, madera o sobre lo que se les ocurra. Estas innovaciones no cambian el rumbo del arte, solo le dan mas opciones a los artistas.

Aquí os brindo algunas de las mías. De estas puede que escoja una o dos o tres y las convierta en NFT, no se, pero creo que un artista debe adentrarse en cualquier senda que lo acoja y variar un poco su estilo. Que un artista se desarrolle en el arte convencional, el arte digital y los NFT es algo que me gusta. Luego, cuando la IA se halla desarrollado un poco mas, hablaremos mas a fondo de la misma.

What does digital art bring to the art world or to the life of an artist? Does this mean that conventional art, the art we’ve done always, is on the road to becoming obsolete? Or, is it that the road has changed directions and now if an artist is not a digital artist he or she is no longer important, viable, original?

Well, none of these questions is valid (to me). Digital art (Art Digital) is just another tool for artists. You are going to see that so is AI (artificial intelligence) and NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens). None of these ways to create art is going to change anything in the art world. Painters will still pain with oil or acrylic on canvas, wood or whatever they like. Innovations are just new opportunities, new options that now are becoming available to artists (and designers).

Here are some of my efforts at Art Digital. Maybe I will choose a few of these and turn them into NFTs. I don’t know, but I believe an artist should experiment and search, and use anything new as a means to amplify the search. That an artist develops within conventional art, digital art and NFTs, I like that idea, and once AI is more developed, we will talk about it together.

El monocromo se hizo popular durante la década de los 60 del S. XX y aun tiene vigencia, claro, si no se usa ad nauseam. Yo rara la vez pinto de esa forma, pero es cierto que a veces viene perfectamente bien y el mejor ejemplo que se me ocurre es el Guernica de Picasso. Pero lo bueno que tiene el arte digital es que fácilmente uno puede convertir un cuadro a todo color a un formato monocromático y eso le cambia, no solo la apariencia, pero hasta el mensaje de la obra.

Yo tengo la tendencia de llevar los colores a sus limites (claro, diría mis limites) y me gusta usarlos en cuadros figurativos tal y como los usaría en la abstracción. Los colores no son solo útiles para hacer un cuadro, los colores son cosa completa, tienen su vibración, su significado y evocan sentimientos universales, y por supuesto particulares también.

Este cuadro, hecho al oleo sobre tela, demuestra como los colores complementan la composición y también transmiten un mensaje muy particular, quizá hasta independiente del mensaje que la composición entera transmite…

Monochromatic paintings, photos, drawings et al, became popular during the 1960’s of the XX C. and are still important, if they are not taken to extremes. I rarely paint in those terms, but there are good reasons to employ such a colour scheme, the example that comes to mind is Guernica by Picasso. However, using a digital art format one can easily turn a colourful painting into a monochrome digital work. This not only changes the appearance but even the spirit of the painting.

I have the tendency to take colours to their limits (or to my limits I should say) and I like to use them in figuration similarly to the way one would in abstraction. Colour is not only useful to complete a painting. They have their own particular vibrations, their significance, they are symbols and these are absorbed individually and collectively and are universal symbols as well.

The painting above, oil on canvas, demonstrates how colours complement the composition and as well transmit their own message which may even be different than the message of the composition as a whole…

I have always said that the BLACK LINE is the essence of illustration (drawings) and that drawings (illustrations) are the father-mother of painting. Phase I of JaZzArt is a study (a search) of what one can do with the black line…

Este cuadro es parte de una serie llamada «Gisela Tabú». El primero lo adquirió un coleccionista estadounidense, el segundo un coleccionista portugués y ahora esta vivito y coleando el número tres de la serie. No se si habrá un número IV y V, pero creo que si, que sea muy posible.

This painting is part of the series titled «Gisela Tabú». The first one was sold to a collector in the US, the second one to a collector in Portugal and the third one is here, alive and kicking. I don’t know if there will be a number IV and V, but it is quite possible.
