Bueno me imagino que todos sepamos que Sabina es uno de los grandes cantautores de nuestros tiempos, pero quizá no sabíais que es también pintor… Pues aquí estoy para decíroslo, para que lo sepáis…

I have lived long enough to remember many things, many things that now («they» say) don’t exist…

Now Holland is Netherlands (I think it always was), but «they» say you cannot call their citizens Hollanders, they must be called Nederlanders from now on. Strange because Richard Wagner wrote an opera «Der fliegende Holländer (The Flying Dutchman» in 1843, and he called the cursed captain a «Dutchman», not a Nederlander…

And… Peking became Beijing, now it’s Peking again…

Domestic violence has been turned into «Gender violence», a misanthropic term used to politicise such a crime…

We used to be, or exist, as two genders, «male» and «female», now we’ve many…

Everything is changing, butnits always been like that. I remember the days before the fall of the Iron Curtain, when the Soviet Union controlled satellite states in Eastern Europe and Germany was divided. Funny that the communist side, totalitarian and anti-democratic, was called The Democratic Republic (Deutsche Demokratische Republik)…

I am not against change, but not just for the sake of change. Change must bring forth something better. Right now many governments around the world are creating change, yet I am not at all certain that they are for the good of society.

But, let’s hope for the best, for the sake of those being born now or growing up in these times…

And HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

Un dibujo comienza con una idea, sigue desarrollándose y pasa a convertirse en un boceto. Allí puede morir la idea o continuar su desarrollo. Si continua, la idea se tiene que fundir con el movimiento y el movimiento es patrimonio de la línea negra, la creadora, la investigadora, la que ilumina mundos extraños, fantasias oníricas, palabras habladas sin voz…

Así se dibuja, con el corazón y no la mente, con el deseo y no con la inspiración. En el arte no hay inspiración que valga mas que el deseo de buscar y encontrar…

A drawing starts with an idea. It continues to develop and turns into a sketch. Here the idea can die or continue forth. If it does continue the idea has to fuse itself with movement and movement is patrimony of the black line. The black line, the creator, the investigator, the illuminator of strange worlds, oneiric fantasies, of words spoken without voice…

One draws from the heart and not the mind, with desire and not with inspiration. In art there is no greater inspiration than the desire, the will to search and to find…

One of the first songs I ever learned to play (a non-Beatle song that is) was «Fire and Rain». And that was in 1970 when I was starting High School in Miami, Florida! Wow! So many years ago! I was really impressed with this North American singer-songwriter, singing calmly with his acoustic guitar while everybody else was jamming like maniacs. So I bought the album and «Sweet Baby James» quickly became one of my favourites…

I chose this version because I liked the story he told about writing this tune. I had no idea why it was called Sweet Baby James and now, after fifty two years, I know. Maybe it is the same for you…

He wrote this little beauty in 2005 and hails from British Columbia, Canada… that’s just about it, but the song is great. «You Had a Bad Day» was top of the Billboard Hot 100 for five whole weeks!

I reckon we’ve all had a bad day every once in a while…
