they wrap around your ears,
they drift above your head, and kiss you tenderly on ruby lips,
then rip your flesh with swords of amethyst,
with nails of absinthe…

I created the Euro-Ku, (02/02/2022), a unique poetic form blending the traditional haiku and European themes. It consists of three verses of whatever length you want to make them and requires an original illustration. Explore the beauty and heritage of Europe through the Euro-Ku.

Nota Bene:
Recordareis que hace poco tiempo os presenté al «EURO-KU», un estilo poético que he venido desarrollando con el cual le hago un homenaje al Haiku tradicional, pero con sabor europeo, al estilo occidental, explotando nuestra cultura, nuestro sintaxis, nuestra manera de comunicar y filosofar artísticamente. Pare hacer un «Euro-Ku» tenéis que que comenzar con una imagen original e inédita y de ella sacaras tres versos. No importa cuan largo puedan ser los tres versos, pero si deben estar escrito en un lenguaje claro, coherente y fácil de leer y entender, mas o menos, os diría, como la letra de una canción popular.

El momento aquel cuando decidí que mi trabajo artístico seria «Jazz-Art» fue una epifanía, pero no recuerdo exactamente cuando fue. Lo que si recuerdo fue cuando cambié la forma de escribirlo. Fue durante la pandemia (2020) estando confinado y solo comunicándome con seguidores, amigos, galeristas, fans etcetera, cuando escribí jazz art así: «JaZzArT» y como me gustó así lo dejé.
Pero bueno, la motivación, lo que me provocó a dirigir mi camino hacia el JaZzArT fue el Jazz. Simple, y llanamente siempre he sido un amante de la música. Primero los Beatles y los Rolling, después Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, y casi todos las otras bandas de esa época y después el Jazz. Y lo que más me fascinó del jazz fue la manera como se hace, como se toca, como se desarrolla.
Pues el Jazz (como forma musical) se ajusta a tres principios fundamentales que son:
1- la improvisación; 2- La maestría del solista que toca y compone simultáneamente; 3- el ritmo, el swing que tiene que tener la pieza.
Los tres los convertí en la base de mi trabajo pictórico. Claro, tuve que hacer algunos ajustes pero creo que a través de los años los he logrado entrometer en mis cuadros y lograr así la espontaneidad y la frescura de la improvisación sin alejarme mucho de la planificación.

The moment when I decided that my artistic work would be «Jazz-Art» was an epiphany, but I don’t remember exactly when it was. What I do remember is when I changed the way to write it. It was during the pandemic (2020) while being confined and only communicating with followers, friends, gallery owners, fans, etc., when I wrote jazz art like this: «JaZzArT» and since I liked it, I kept it that way.
But well, the motivation, what led me to steer my path towards JaZzArT was Jazz. Simply put, I have always been a lover of music. First the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, then Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and almost all the other bands of that era, and then Jazz. And what fascinated me the most about jazz was the way it is made, how it is played, how it unfolds.
Well, Jazz (as a musical form) adheres to three fundamental principles, which are:
1- Improvisation; 2- The mastery of the soloist who plays and composes simultaneously; 3- The rhythm, the swing that the piece must have.
I turned the three of them into the foundation of my pictorial work. Of course, I had to make some adjustments, but I believe that over the years I have managed to integrate them into my paintings and thus achieve the spontaneity and freshness of improvisation without straying too far from the planning.
Now I ask you, do you see these Jazz principles in my work?
On the 23rd day of February, 2022, I presented publicly a form that I had been working on and developing for quite some time. I named it the Euro-Ku in homage and recognition of the Haiku. I have always been a fan of Haikus, especially those written by Zen Masters. However, I knew that as a Westerner I was not placed in this world to live and write as does a poet from the East. But my admiration for the philosophy, the art and the poetry of the East led me to attempt to emulate, of course within the structure of my own, European culture, the Haiku.
In recognition of the struggle for equality and for the end of domestic violence, we here at Omnia Caelum Studios Valencia support a world free of violence against women and have zero tolerance for such crimes. As a matter of fact, we stand vigorously against all manner of violence and although we realise it has been engrained into the mind and into all the cultures on Earth, we stand against war.

The Euro-Ku, which I have developed as an homage to the traditional Japanese Haiku, besides containing three verses (just like the original but with no syllabic restrictions), whose message must tie in and form a cohesive whole, should be accompanied by an original image. The language should reflect our contemporary, narcissistic, ego-centric and surrealistically paranoid existence. Those psychological descriptors serve to make the Euro-Ku totally a European experience.
¿Pero es que en España nunca se ha visto un beso? ¡increíble el pollo que han montado estos “progresistas” por una cosa tan normal y natural! He visto en toda Europa cosas, o digamos reacciones como esa, en EEUU y en el Reino Unido también y a nadie le ha quitado el sueño ni nadie ha pestañeado… Pero parece que aquí el odio hacia los hombres las carcome… ¡Vamos! Dejar el infantilismo y actuar como lo grandecitas que sois…
