El beso, tema que ha fascinado a los artistas, a los escritores, a los cineastas y a todos. Se ha representado de mil y una maneras en la historia del arte, y los artistas lo han pintado ad nauseum pero este de Constantin Brancusi es una de mis favoritas representaciones. Pero como ahora en España parece que dar un beso se ha convertido en un delito capital, pues lo quiero representar yo también y lo haré de esta manera… Además os prometo que todas las gaviotas consintieron a darse un piquito así, públicamente.

The kiss, a theme that has fascinated artists, writers, filmmakers, and everyone. It has been represented in a thousand and one ways in the history of art, and artists have painted it ad nauseum but this one, «The Kiss,» by Constantin Brancusi is one of my favourite depictions. But since now in Spain it seems that giving a kiss has become a capital offense, well, I want to represent it too, and I will do it this way… Also, I promise that all the seagulls consented to give each other a little peck like this, publicly.

Porque me gusta lo que hago, lo hago con gusto y me lo curro bien para que salga bien y se note el talento, pues el talento no es una cosa innata, es algo que se desarrolla a través del trabajo. Mientras mas trabajas una cosa mas talento desarrollas… Desde chaval sabía que quería pertenecer a ese grupo de personas que dedicaban su vida a la comunicación, bien sea escribiendo libros, poemas o guiones de cine o teatro, o que pintaban o fotografiaban el mundo que les rodeaba o que creaban en su imaginación. Pero la vida a veces es un camino sinuoso que a veces atraviesa valles y cruza ríos, y uno tiene que convertirse en agua y fluir por donde sea necesario hacerlo. Por eso una parte substancial de mi vida la dediqué a cumplir con mi deber cívico y patriótico, pero nunca dejando a un lado mis deseos de crear y comunicar.
Entonces un buen dia me llegó la oportunidad de pintar y la pintura, cosa que siempre me había fascinado, me cautivo y aquí estoy, preso, pero muy a gusto…
Valencia me ha dado mucho. Me ha dejado pensar en muchas cosas además de disfrutar de un lugar tan bello y también me ha motivado a escribir y a seguir pintando. Ahora, en mi quinto año de residencia en esta bellísima ciudad, me dispongo, con el apoyo del Ayuntamiento de Valencia, a presentar mi primera exposición en un museo de esta ciudad. La exposición la he titulado «Atrévete» porque es un atrevimiento de mi parte y también un reto a que tu, que me estás leyendo, te atrevas a lanzar a los cuatro vientos tus ideas, pensamientos y creatividad.

Because I love what I do, I do it with pleasure and put in the effort to make it turn out well and showcase talent. Talent is not something innate, it’s something that develops through hard work. The more you work on something, the more talent you develop… Since I was a kid, I knew I wanted to belong to that group of people who dedicated their lives to communication, whether it was writing books, poems, scripts for film or theatre, or capturing the world around them…or the one they invented…through painting or photography. But life is sometimes a winding road that crosses valleys and rivers, and one has to become like water and flow wherever one has to. That’s why a substantial part of my life was dedicated to fulfilling my civic and patriotic duty, but even then, I never left aside my desires to create and communicate.
So one day I was given the opportunity to paint and painting, something that had always fascinated me, captivated me and here I am, trapped, but very content…
Valencia has given me so much. It has allowed me to contemplate many things while enjoying such a beautiful place, and it has also motivated me to write and continue painting. Now, in my fifth year of living in this gorgeous city, with the support of the Valencia City Council, I am preparing to present my first exhibition in a museum here. I have titled the exhibition «Atrévete» (Dare) because it is both a daring move on my part and a challenge for you, the person reading this, to dare to share your ideas, thoughts, and creativity with the world.

Para mi este pintor maldito fue un genio del expresionismo… Y para mi el expresionismo, o sea esa tendencia artística que surgió en Europa central a comienzos del S. XX, es mi forma preferida para expresar el arte que llevo dentro. El artista no pinta lo que ve en el mundo natural, si no lo que siente, lo que intuye, lo que se imagina y lo expresa de una forma bruta, fuerte, con colores agresivos, con trazos largos y sueltos, casi caricaturescos son los cuadros expresionistas y un autentico fenómeno… Lo he pintado, o sea, a mi estilo, el surreal-expresionismo, primero mas o menos a la edad que murió, 28 años, y también como me lo imagino de mayor…
