FEATURES en VALENCIARTIST ya ha comenzado. Esperamos que os unáis a nosotros y también que disfrutéis de los poetas, escritores, artistas y más que en la serie veréis. Los protagonistas serán entrevistados y además publicaremos sus biografías y muestras de sus trabajos artísticos.

Aquí va nuestra cordial invitación para que todos participéis.

El surreal-expresionismo es mi estilo único y personal de crear arte. Puede sonar como si se derivara de dos de las grandes vanguardias del siglo XX, el Expresionismo y el Surrealismo, pero no precisamente. La combinación de ambos produce resultados artísticos más grandes, con más expresividad e intensidad visual. Algo así como la síntesis obtenida de la unión de tesis y antítesis que siempre es mayor que las partes que la componen.

Entonces debo decir que el surreal-expresionismo es también mi filosofía muy particular del arte. Une, pero a la vez desvincula pensamientos, suscita emociones y me permite crear una forma sui géneris de comunicarme a través de mis cuadros. Al hacerlo, creo que puedo llegar a lo profundo del alma del observador, ya que no está viendo lo que esperaría ver, si mis composiciones existieran en la vida cotidiana. Sin embargo, lo percibe como tal y, como tal, lo comprende. Estas pinturas son muy admiradas y buscadas por coleccionistas de todo el mundo, ya que contienen el espíritu de su contemporaneidad.

Surreal-expresionismo difiere del expresionismo puro debido a sus orígenes y procedimiento. Aunque presenta contexto, figuras, paisajes e incluso abstracciones, al estilo de los expresionistas del siglo pasado. Quizá la similitud más cercana sea que no pinto lo que las figuras ni las cosas como aparecen, sino cómo las veo. Yo abordo mis pinturas con paz, felicidad y una fe perdurable que parecía faltarle a los grandes expresionistas de principios del siglo XX. Pintores como Munch, Kokoschka y Dix pintaron la tristeza, la melancolía y el dolor de su existencia. Yo pinto la belleza con la que soy bendecido. Y pinto lo que el siglo XXI me enseña y refleja en mí. Ellos pintaron su realidad, yo pinto la mía.

Surreal-expresionismo difiere del surrealismo de maneras similares a cómo difiere del expresionismo. La primera y más significativa es que no estoy repitiendo el proceso ni la filosofía de los surrealistas del siglo XX. Soy, y debo ser, fiel a mi tiempo para traer espiritualidad duradera a mi trabajo. Por lo tanto, no busco las mismas fantasías oníricas de pintores como Dalí, Magritte o Max Ernst. Como mencioné anteriormente, pinto de acuerdo con mi tiempo y cultura. Utilizo la historia del arte…en su totalidad…como referencia, pero no intento, de ninguna manera, emular o copiar lo que los artistas habían hecho en épocas anteriores a la mía.

Los perricos de mi amigo son una autentica pasada. Son más listos que él y yo juntos. Claro, si son Jack Russel Terrier! Madre mía! Pero aunque sean una gozada, yo prefiero mis gatos que son animales superiores, no importa lo listos que sean estos canes.

My friend’s little dogs are amazing. They are smarter than him and me put together. Of course, they are Jack Russel Terriers! Good grief! But even though they are a delight, I prefer my cats, who are superior animals, no matter how smart some dogs may be.

Un brillante, sofisticado, surrealista y psicodélico grupo que marcó la pauta para la era psicodélica… Y uno de los primeros en utilizar un sintetizador Moog. Supuestamente, fue utilizado por primera vez en la canción «Strange Days«. Esta canción…fenomenal…fue lanzada en 1967 e incluida en el álbum del mismo nombre. «Strange Days» fue escrita por The Doors. Aquí está la canción con el video oficial, que debo decir que mola...

A brilliant, sophisticated, surreal, psychedelic band that set the tone for the psychedelic era… And one of the first band to use a Moog synthesiser. Supposedly it was first used in the song «Strange Days«. This song…phenomenal…was released in 1967 and featured in the album of the same name. «Strange Days» was written by The Doors. Here is the song with the official video which is pretty cool I must say…

THE MONKEES «DAILY NIGHTLY«

Parece ser que muchos descartan a estos chicos porque fue una «banda» hecha para una serie de television, pero un momentiño que aquí hay tela. Aunque no hay dudas que fue una banda pre-fabricada (1966), los chicos (Peter Tork, Mike Nesmith, Davy Jones y Micky Dolenz) se dieron cuenta de que eran una banda y comenzaron a pulirse, a aprender más música, a escribir sus propias canciones y a desarrollar un estilo que hasta marco pautas en la música de su época. Por ejemplo, Micky Dolenz fue uno de los primeros músicos de la década de los 1960 en adquirir un sintetizador Moog y lo uso, por primera vez en esta canción del disco de1967’s Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, Ltd., canción escrita por Mike Nesmith.

It seems that many people dismiss these guys because they were a «band» created for a television show, but hold on a minute here. Although there’s no doubt that they were a prefab band (1966), the guys (Peter Tork, Mike Nesmith, Davy Jones, and Micky Dolenz) realized they were becoming a band and started to refine themselves, to learn more about music, to write their own songs, and to develop a style that even set the standard in the music of their time. For example, Micky Dolenz was one of the first musicians of the 1960s to acquire a Moog synthesizer and he used it for the first time in this song from the 1967 album «Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, Ltd.», a song written by Mike Nesmith.

Empecé «Petons» (23/01/24) con un lienzo tratado y en el cual fui creando capas blancas y de diferentes colores, aplicándolas con una esponja dura y corrugada. Hice esto para crear la textura especial que quería, de manera que al aplicar la pintura, esta tuviera que adaptarse a la textura creada previamente. De esta forma, he alterado los colores que había elegido y mezclado para las figuras y el fondo. Las figuras son expresionistas, mientras que el fondo es puramente abstracto. Sin embargo, la totalidad de la composición refleja de manera bastante dinámica mi estilo, Surreal-Expresionismo.

I started “Petons” (JAN 23) by taking a treated canvas and creating on its white surface layers of paint of different colours and applying these layers with a hard, corrugated sponge. I did this to create the special texture I wanted so that when I applied the paint that the composition would have, that paint would have to be applied conforming to the texture created previously. In this way I have altered and enhanced the colours I had chosen and mixed for the figures and the background. The figures are expressionistic while the background is purely abstract. However, the wholeness of the composition reflects quite dynamically my style, Surreal-Expressionism.

Sometimes artists speak like «normal» people but most of the time they speak like «artists» are supposed to. They mention things in relation to the art they create or the philosophy behind art and other such trascendental stuff. So, here are some of the stuff that one of the most famous artists of the Twentieth Century (and beyond) supposedly said:

Talk to us Salvador Dalí… (like I said I cannot guarantee he said any of these things as I did not hear him):
