Un año desde aquel nefasto día – One Year Since the Terrorist Attack

(photo AP News)

On October 7, 2024, terrorists infiltrated one of the most protected borders in the world, their barbarous act shocked and horrified us all. The terrorist assassins from Hamas ended the lives of over 1,200 people and took hundreds of hostages. Not all innocent hostages have been released yet… This infamous, cowardly, and cruel act forced Israel to defend itself. Unfortunately, it has also unleashed a war that, well, to this date, we do not know when it will end. God willing, it will end soon, but not until the killers have been hunted down. The terrorists cannot remain on this earth to plan another massacre. A cancer like that must be eradicated at its root. As the saying goes, «he who does it pays for it…»

But those who do not have to pay for it are the innocent, and there are innocent people on both sides of this war. God willing, peace, coexistence, and tranquillity will once again return to that beautiful region of our world.

So, the summer was wonderful, full of adventures, sun and fun and lots of work. What? You worked during the summer? Of course! A painter must maintain his status as an artist as one must be revendicated with each painting one creates. So, winter, spring, summer and fall, one cannot stop working. This summer this is what I painted and sold…

#art, Great Artists Series: Constantin Brâncuși…

(Photo 3 Seas Europe)

This is one heavy duty Rumanian sculptor and painter who is one of the fathers of «Modern Art» (whatever that is)… After all all art is contemporary and all art is modern at one time… In any event, his works are well known in many countries besides Rumania.

Brâncuși was born in 1876… He worked the fields as a shepherd and then did other manual labour jobs as he taught himself to read. Later he was admitted to the Bucarest School of Fine Arts. In 1904 he went to Paris to continue his art education. His time allowed him to coincide with artists like Rodin and the Impressionists. And from 1909 to 1910 he worked with Amedeo Modigliani… He exhibited in Chicago, New York, and Boston… He returned to Rumania in 1923 already a world recognised artist…

Constantin Brâncuși was an artist interested in many things that ranged from science to music. He befriended many of the intellectuals of his day. In Paris his circle included musicians, artists and poets like Erik Satie, Marcel Duchamp, Pablo Picasso, Guillaume Apollinaire, as well as other Rumanians like Emil Cioran.

Brâncuși died in París on the 16th of March 1957 and is buried in Montparnasse cemetery.
