
This is another woman artist that I knew nothing about… But, here she is and I am glad to have discovered Barbara Chase Riboud. She was born in the United States and is a poet, an illustrator. visual artist, sculptor and novelist. She was born in Philadelphia in 1939. She graduated from Temple University in 1956 from the school of fine arts. She won a scholarship to the American Academy in Rome and there she created her first bronze statues.
Barbara, in 1879 wrote a novel, Sally Hemings (about the relationship of Thomas Jefferson with one of his black slaves) that won the Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize in Fiction. This led her to success internationally.
