Art History: (Special Edition) «Virgo Lactans»

(Hera nursing Heracles)

I thought I would divert from conventional art history and bring this little known part of the history of art to your attention. This is the development and the rise of paintings called «La virgen de la leche» or «The nursing Madonna.» It stems from the early Egyptian religion of Isis and Horus, as well as from Greek and later Roman mythology.

    1. Yes, that is why it is so bizarre (and stupid) to see this generation freaking out about a woman breastfeeding her baby in public!

        Yes, it’s a naturally occuring phenomena. They get so freaked out by the connotation of breats.
