Poem: “And if I don’t Believe You?”

(Photo is a detail from an original painting by and property of FBC, Omnia Caelum Studios València, All Rights Reserved)

You who come like lightning in the night skies…

You who are the symbol of “the” truth…

You who light the way when evening’s sun dies…

You who guided my first thoughts from youth…

You who claim the high ground of morality…

You who are the champion right or wrong…

You that strokes our egos and our vanities…

Tell me when to sing a brand new song…

You that tells me what to think and smiling,

pat my shoulder, wink at me and nod,

what would you say if I told you quite frankly,

I don’t believe a single word you spoke…

This is a powerful, thought-provoking piece that speaks with courage and clarity. The imagery is striking—lightning, night skies, fading suns—setting a dramatic stage for a deep questioning of authority, truth, and moral posturing. What stands out most is the honest, fearless voice of the poem: respectful in tone, yet unafraid to challenge imposed narratives and borrowed certainties.

The progression from reverence to quiet defiance is beautifully handled. Each line peels away illusion, exposing how easily guidance can slip into control, and how truth can be dressed in ego and persuasion. The final declaration is especially impactful—simple, direct, and emotionally resonant—leaving the reader reflecting on belief, independence, and intellectual freedom.
