THANKSGIVING
The air’s alive with fragrances and thoughts…
With dry leaves flying,
While autumn’s dying and winter’s
Trying to make its way back home.
Thoughts of gratitude,
that enrich our soul…
Thoughts of giving,
so that all can hope,
for a new tomorrow,
for a better day,
for all that and more,
now let us pray…
Thoughts of peace
That will bless our homes,
Such thoughts,
Such feelings…
Such love-filled hearts…
And the air’s also alive,
with the sweet smell
of a turkey in the oven,
pumpkin pie,
cranberry sauce,
stuffing,
and a glass of fine red wine
to toast to all you love,
so raise your glass above
your heart
and sincerely now,
give thanks.
Francisco Bravo Cabrera – 25 NOV 2025 – Valencia, España
What a beautifully woven Thanksgiving piece—gentle, sensory, and full of warmth.
There’s a lovely balance between the sacred and the earthly—prayer blending into pumpkin pie, peace flowing into cranberry sauce, love rising with the warmth of a turkey roasting in the oven. It feels like a soft embrace of tradition and emotion, reminding us how gratitude is carried through both our thoughts and our senses.
A heartfelt, aromatic, beautifully painted Thanksgiving reflection.

Muchas gracias Julie. Aunque te digo que para mi todos los días comienzan y terminan con una acción de gracias, esta tradición norteamericana es una de las mas bellas que he conocido. Un abrazo.

This is a beautiful and heartfelt poem for Thanksgiving. The author, Francisco Bravo Cabrera, has woven a lovely blend of reflections on the season, gratitude, and the joy of sharing a meal with loved ones. The poem begins by setting a vivid scene, describing the sights, smells, and thoughts that come with the autumn season. The use of sensory language, such as «fragrances and thoughts,» «dry leaves flying,» and «sweet smell of a turkey in the oven,» effectively transports the reader to a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The themes of gratitude, giving, and peace are woven throughout the poem, emphasizing the importance of taking time to appreciate the blessings in life and to express thanks for all that we have. The lines «Thoughts of gratitude, / that enrich our soul…» and «Thoughts of giving, / so that all can hope» are particularly poignant. The poem also celebrates the joy of sharing a meal with loved ones, which is, of course, a central part of the Thanksgiving tradition. The list of delicious foods, including turkey, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, and fine red wine, is sure to make readers’ mouths water! The final section of the poem, where the author invites the reader to raise their glass and give thanks, is a lovely expression of the spirit of Thanksgiving. The image of raising a glass «above / your heart» is a beautiful gesture, and the use of the phrase «sincerely now, / give thanks» is a heartfelt conclusion to the poem.Overall, this is a wonderful poem that captures the essence of Thanksgiving. Francisco Bravo Cabrera’s words are sure to inspire readers to reflect on the things they are thankful for and to express their gratitude to those around them.Translation to English (in case someone wants to comment):»Thank you for reading! I wrote this poem on November 25, 2025, in Valencia, Spain. I hope it brings you joy and inspires you to give thanks for all the blessings in your life.»

Great! We also brought back leftovers, as they say, leftovers always taste better the next day… We had turkey, and the rest of the food was totally international: Russian, Jordanian, Turkish and Georgian. Quite an interesting feast, at least for me not being too familiar with those dishes…
