    And their cuneiform system later found its way into Persian scribal schools. I used to know a snobbish acquaintance who could actually read some of those wedge-shaped signs. Just to mess with him, I once made up a theory—let me share it with you:

    After the Phoenicians invented the alphabet, the Eastern kingdoms sent scouts to investigate. When the envoys returned, they reported: ‘They write with nails and hammers.’ But here’s the twist—instead of carving the signs, the geniuses thought you had to hammer the actual nails into clay. And that’s how cuneiform was born.
