Why is it important to know (learn) about Art History? I ask you. I know why I studied, and continue to study, Art History. But I want to know what you think. And since I truly believe it is quite important, for artists and non-artists alike, because everybody loves art in one way or another. All you have to do is walk by one of the museums in your city and if your museums are some of the famous ones you will immediately notice long queues in front.
So I have tried to make the experience easy and appealing by creating short videos that deal with important artists that have shaped art history in one way or another. I will be continuing the series little by little if I see a good response. But at the moment I have not noticed much interest. The artists I have chosen are not in any order and the ones I have chosen are not my favourites or least favourites. They, whether I like them (some) or not, are part of this great history, so they are included. But you will immediately understand and know whether I like them or not.
In any event, here is one of the videos that has not had much views and really, this is one of the great artists, at least for me. I hope you enjoy it.

This is such a great post. Art history is important because it provides valuable insights into past cultures, helps develop critical thinking skills, and enhances cultural awareness. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

Art history is important. It puts life in perspective. For instance, I think more than ever before, people tend to think they live in the most enlightened time in history. They tend to think that people who lived 500 years ago were not as smart, not as talented as they are today. Art, perhaps more than anything else (except along with music and literature) remind us (or teach us) that members of the human race have always been smart and talented. In many ways they were smarter than we are today when it comes to common sense, but I digress. Art, current or from the past, enriches our lives — if we will only let it. I hope you will receive sufficient response to encourage you to continue your art history series.

You have said it perfectly Janet. If we study the history of art we see also the magnificent architecture that was constructed by our fellow humans in the past and we have to marvel and realise that humanity has always had the spark from God that allowed them to create. Lamentably we, our current and future generations are in danger of losing it because of the evil that the present generation is conjuring just to remain rich and in power. Thank you Janet. And I will continue to feature art history as much as possible. Happy weekend to you and all the best.

Art history is important because it keeps our past alive. It serves as a reminder on how our world has grown and how everyone’s beautiful culture has changed overtime. It’s a snapshot from a time long ago; art history is a teacher and a source of inspiration.
