Only those with something to hide, or cowards cover their faces. I served 30 years and never once did I or any of my colleagues covered our face. A detainee has the right to know who is detaining him. I can’t believe they are real agents!
Faith saved us from the savages that we were, losing faith makes us savages again

It really does make you wonder. Hamas and other terrorists hide their faces. What is ICE’s rationale?

Shame? Fear of being discovered? Terror tactic? Pick one, or a combination or all. It is un-democratic. In our department some undercover cops, if made to work a special detail, had to cover their faces with balaclavas, (horrible in the south Florida heat!), but they were not out there making arrests. These people are like wolf-packs attacking people and arresting them in the most aggressive and violent ways. They show no respect for the person they are arresting or for the law. This behaviour makes me think, seriously, that they are not trained, professional law enforcement officers…

All of your reasons sound reasonable to me. Almost sounds like old fashioned vigilantes to me.

To me too Pat… it is shameful that they are accountable to no one!

This regime believes that accountability is for everyone else but them.

They also do not think there are laws, or that they do not apply to them… the police is governed by laws, they do not choose, they obey and conduct arrests, investigations, et cetera, in accordance to the law. But ICE does whatever they want, disregarding the law and the constitutional rights of people….

Pat, some of our own home-grown nutcases find them and retaliate against them and their families. Such as the MI senators…

GP, are you saying that is why they cover their faces? I will tell you that when you take the oath you do it without a mask and you have to assume any danger that comes with the job. And retaliation rarely happens to the hundreds of thousands of LEOS in the world…

Happy to hear that.

Understand. If you are being halted and taken away unexpectedly, would not you want to know by whom and why? I believe that why they advise people being pulled over by an unmarked car, especially at night to keep driving and pull over in a safer spot.

I can see that too. What a world we live in! It sure wasn’t like this when I was growing up.

Me neither, GP.

You represented the law, and the law was to be visible.

Absolutely! Only criminals hide their face.

so agree

Only those with something to hide cover their faces. We approached in accordance to the law and performed our functions. No need to hide face, name or badge number…
