And a warm welcome to Part 5 of «History of Art in One Minute (videos)». In this episode we go back to the 20th Century. And I am so happy to introduce to you Remedios Varo, one of my favourite painters of all time… Remedios, a Spanish painter born in Catalunya, and, contrary to the opinion of many «experts» (good grief experts!), I do not believe she was a «surrealist», per se. Her work reflected more of her knowledge of literature and her paintings are filled with fantasy and imbued with much symbolism… Well you will see it and more on the video.

Thank you, Francesco, for the introduction to the Spanish painter, Remedios Varo.
She was, as you say, a talented artist, and not only original, but interesting too.

I love Remedios Varo and her artwork, too, dear Francisco. There’s just something appealing about those surreal landscapes and enigmatic characters that makes her work sort of dreamlike. Thanks for sharing and inspiring 🙂 Aiva xx

Yes, I too am a big fan. Although they tried to place her in the «surrealist» category, I find her work not surreal at all, but more relating to literature and fantasy. Thank you so much Aiva and a grand day to you!
