The city is the fishbowl…
And that’s where I live,
as I am a fish…
Not a gold one,
not a guppy,
not a tasty one that you can trap and fry,
Not a pretty one at all…
I have scales of iron,
teeth like daggers,
black as night
in colour and intention…
and from the sunless depths I rise.
Because the city is my fishbowl
with its waters cold and foul,
and I swim through streets and avenues, without a light,
without a sound…
