FLOWERS? FLOWERS FOR ME?
(Chapter 1)
Flowers for me dearest lady?
For me who has shunned your love,
your looks, your gentle touch?
Better leave those flowers, lady,
lying on a grave out there
than in my hands that do not care,
and that have never touched your skin.
Or is it that you don’t seem
to adore these precious flowers
and to while away the hours
you now have brought them to me?

I have always loved sunflowers and this is a particularly nice rendition of them. I also love the poem which seems to be a bit different from some of your other poetry I have read (not that your other poetry is not also enjoyable).

Thank you so much Pat, I am glad you liked this one and that you still feel the other poetry is enjoyable as well. As I always say, art is the search, and that includes poetry. I hope you enjoy a marvellous day, a great beginning to a phenomenal week!

Very welcome, Francisco. Feliz dia de gracias. I think you say that you still observe this American holiday in Valencia. My main complaint is too much football since I am not much of a fan.

Well some of my friends of the US expat community do celebrate and we get together to eat Turkey, take shots of vodka, eat some more, have wine and then dance the night away to old disco records. It’s not something known at all in Spain. But we have fun, and all of those who spent time in the US lived the tradition.

Sounds like a fun way to celebrate the day. Happy Turkey Day this Thursday.

Thank you! You too Pat! And here we don’t do football on Thanksgiving Day!

Lucky Dude. Not enough European Football (soccer)?

Yes, matches usually begin on Friday evening and run through the weekend and end on Monday. No Thursday matches this week…

Since it is not a Spanish holiday, that makes a lot of sense.

Right, but we’ve more and more Americans here every week! Students, retirees, nomads, you name it, so many of the holydays are now celebrated here as well. We never celebrated Halloween and now it is quite common and very popular. We’ve also Black Friday! The US extends its commercial influence all over Western Europe… Cheers Pat and all the best.

I’m afraid you may see more ex-pats in the coming days, as certain revenge tour changes are made.
