This is another woman artist that I knew nothing about… But, here she is and I am glad to have discovered Barbara Chase Riboud. She was born in the United States and is a poet, an illustrator. visual artist, sculptor and novelist. She was born in Philadelphia in 1939. She graduated from Temple University in 1956 from the school of fine arts. She won a scholarship to the American Academy in Rome and there she created her first bronze statues.
Barbara, in 1879 wrote a novel, Sally Hemings (about the relationship of Thomas Jefferson with one of his black slaves) that won the Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize in Fiction. This led her to success internationally.
Here are some of her works…

There is much to the work of this phenomenal Black American Sculptor from the United States and I would encourage you to look further.

Beautiful pieces of art work. They look so tactile…I want to touch, feel them.
