Well, I think Octavio Ocampo, the Mexican artist I told you about, was inspired by Arcimboldo, the Italian artist. Do you remember Octavio Ocampo? (if you don’t remember, here is a link: Octavio Ocampo)…
But Arcimboldo is from the 16th century. He was born in Milan in 1527. Giuseppe Arcimboldo had a very unique way of painting. He formed human faces with flowers, fruits, plants, animals, and other objects. When you look at the canvas, it all looks like a portrait of someone. But if you look closely, you will see a thousand and one things forming it. How did he do it? Artists are magicians, did not you know? This form of anamorphosis is called pareidolia and was the very particular style of this painter. It might even have been parodic, but I don’t know because I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting the great Arcimboldo…

Wonderful work of Arcimboldo is mesmerising. One of my favourite examples of anamorphosis is Hans Holbein’s “The Ambassadors” it’s so clever 😁
