#music, Great American Bands Part 5: Creedence Clearwater Revival

This was one of my favourites all throughout the 70’s and they still are. I do not think that any band from the XXI Century can surpass them, or even match them in music, energy and success. The band was formed in El Cerrito, California and was only active from 1959 to 1972. But their songs are still as fresh and new as when they were recorded…

The band was John Fogerty, lead guitar, lead vocalist and songwriter, Tom Fogerty, rhythm guitar, Stu Cook on the bass and Doug Clifford on the drums. Between 1969 and 1971 they had fourteen top 10 singles and five consecutive top 10 albums. CCR (as they are commonly called) played at Woodstock Festival in 1969…

Their 1976 compilation album Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits is still on the Billboard 200 and certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America. At least 12 million copies were sold in the US alone…

I tell you that when I first became a fan I always thought this band was from Louisiana, and what a surprise when I found that these New Orleans, rockabilly and southern sounding lads were actually from California!
