I am sailing through the beautiful Aegean Sea off the coast of Turkey. It’s nice and hot but the waters, oh, those crystal clear blue waters are about 15 degrees Celsius, so a wet suit is my choice before I can no longer resist the desire to dive in and take a look below the surface. Later I climb back into our yacht and pour myself a cold Efes beer in a frozen glass. Yes! The joys of sailing…
And I started thinking about the times that we are crossing through. We are travelling over borders that we should respect and never desecrate. I am seeing thoughts, images reflected on to the vaulty cavities of my mind, things that I would have never imagined. These are horrific that I could have guessed would only be included in cheap sci-fi movies or B grade horror flicks.
The new Inquisitors have arrived and they populate the highest spheres of political power. The new Moralists are governing us with their Medieval mentality and fables and worse, they are indoctrinating our young ones in order to turn them into sheep.
And I am going to leave it there. Don’t force me dear diary to continue because I am thoroughly grossed out by these thoughts that reflect our present day reality. I prefer to stick to the fantasy that has always, or almost always been our preferred topic when you, dear diary, accompany me through thoughts.
Ciao…
Scary, isn’t it, Francisco?

Disfruta!!

Did you see the clip about two US Marines being manhandled by a group in Izmir the other day? There’s no reason to doubt its authenticity as US officials have become involved.

No, did not know anything about it. Will look it up.

Thank you Malc. Incredible!

I’ll tell you, probably those two marines were young lads just starting out. If they would have been two hardened gunnies from the 3rd Marines Recon, those guys who tried that shit would have breathed their last…

Like you Francesc, I have great memories of Turkey, but politically, it’s at he crossroads between east and west as this incident shows.

I’ve been digging up some info, and from what locals tell me this group is very small and without any support from the people. And the report seemed different in the Turkish media, according to friends who knew about the incident. The government is trying to lean to the east while most of the population wants to lean to the west.

That sounds about right. It seems that all governments are becoming technocratic these days.

Unfortunately Malc, we are lucky, to a certain extent, in Europe where no government can really make any significant changes to our lifestyle, only peripheral little things can they mess around with.

For now, but we really can’t afford to be complacent. My recent article on the BBC only scratched the suface of what I really wanted to say, and it runs much deeper than that, but I hope it was food for thought.

I agree and yes it was…
