Fue en los años 80 cuando primero escuché la música de Rubén Blades… Es realmente un tío de puta madre. Es compositor, cantante, abogado, productor, politico y activista. Este salsero, cuyas canciones no son solo para bailar, sino también para reflexionar, pues tienen letra tienen que ver con temas serios, fue candidato a la presidencia de su país, Panamá… Nació en 1948 y su música se califica de «salsa intelectual»… Comenzó en los años 70, tiene más de 20 álbumes y junto a otros artistas ha participado en más de 15 grabaciones… Ha recibido 14 Premios Grammy… Ha sido actor de cine, en Hollywood como en filmes independientes… Fue candidato a la presidencia de Panamá (1994) y recibió el 20% del voto… Fue ministro de Turismo de Panamá del 2004 al 2009… Diez años (1977-87) estuvo cantando con la orquesta de Willy Colón, el gran salsero puertorriqueño, pero durante esa época también se presentó con los grandes entre los grandes como Celia Cruz, Rey Barreto, Tito Puente, Johnny Pacheco, Pete «El Conde» Rodriguez etcétera… De esa época en adelante fue solista atravesando varias etapas… Su último álbum Medoro Madera, fue lanzado en 2018, lleva el nombre de su alter ego que canta como los cantantes cubanos de ayer e interpreta canciones clásicas afro-cubanas… Ahora a disfrutar de este gran artista…
