Antoñita La Singla, bailaora gitana, un autentico fenómeno…
Esta bailaora y actriz española nació en la Barceloneta (Barcelona) en 1948 y estuvo bailando hasta el 1988. Aclara siempre que sus abuelos eran gitanos franceses de Perpignan, La Singla se quedó sorda después de sufrir una meningitis en su infancia. Aunque pensaban que iba ser sordo-muda toda la vida, a los 7 años dijo su primera palabra, «mamá.» La que era llamada la «múa» por los vecinos de su barrio aprendió a bailar todos los ritmos flamencos y entonces la empezaron a llamar la heredera de Carmen Amaya…
La Singla a los 12 años ya bailaba en las tabernas de Barcelona, pero llegó a actuar en el Olympia de París, en Berlín y en Stuttgart, y también en otros escenarios internacionales… Bailaba a su aire porque no oía la guitarra pero llenaba el escenario con su energía y fuerza y modo muy particular de bailar… Ahora vive tranquila y alejada de los tablaos en Santa Coloma de Gramanet, donde se ocupa de sus nietos.
