   B&W is akin to Flash Fiction. The casual, unenlightened audience might feel cheated, that the artist has sluffed-off, foisting a cheap effort on them. Not so. Not necessarily so. Flash fiction, well planned and written flash fiction, requires much more effort than a longer piece with the luxury of time and space to fully develop situations, character, and suspense. The flash writer must make every word count, thus chooses each word carefully for maximum effect, to guide readers to supply detail from personal experience or fear or expectation, using omission to prick imaginations, as a B&W graphic artist learns to narrow or broaden lines, to shade in greys, to situate open space to suggest something that is not there.
