#art, Os presento a Brad Pitt, el escultor – Here’s Brad Pitt, the Sculptor! (Esp-Eng)

A mi no me convences.

Very well, Brad Pitt, like Sharon Stone, is a magnificent actor. He has made dozens of great movies and has entertained us all with his well-developed and believable characters.

Bravo Brad Pitt! That’s how art is done. But now you’re getting into sculpture and at first glance, your sculptures seem good, but I ask you: Are you an artist-sculptor, or just an opportunist taking advantage of your fame? I would like to know because it intrigues me. I believe you know the art of acting very well, and the same process is followed by visual artists. Neither acting nor sculpture can be improvised. Our arts are professions, and artists have studied and worked hard to develop the talent that makes us famous.

I’m not convinced. I don’t know if this sculpture thing is a preparation to create a character or if you’re taking it seriously. But if you’re taking it seriously, look for a teacher, an academy, a guide, because if you truly have the desire to express through sculpture, you need to immerse yourself in knowledge. I’m still a fan of your performances, but I’ll reserve my comment on your sculptures. Maybe in a few years, you’ll also be a great sculptor.

Gracias…

Cheers…

Perhaps these celebrities are happy just to immerse themselves in another pastime which takes them away from their day job for a while. Maybe they’re not looking to be a serious artist, just a form of escapism. We go on holiday and they go into the studio. Just a thought Francesc.

    1. I think so, but to try to exhibit in galleries and pass themselves off as artists, that is good and fine, if you take painting, sculpting and other forms of visual (plastic) art serious, not if you are going to capitalise off your celebrity status. There are many people who paint for relaxation or as a hobby, some of them are actors or ex-US presidents, like George W. Bush… All the best Malc!

Let’s face it: it’s hard to take seriously the actor who suddenly starts painting or sculpting. Actors are free to dabble in music, politics, activism, and entrepreneurship, but art? It’s serious business that not all who enter go unscathed.

Not that this has stopped those of the courageous acting profession from getting messy in front of the easel—too often surprising results. From what I’ve read, some have landed exhibitions in museums, others have sold pieces for six-figure sums, and some others still have turned in work of stunning quality. True creativity, it seems, cannot be suppressed, and when it comes to being a Hollywood actor some of them just channelled the luxuries of time and money into longstanding artistic pursuits. Thanks for sharing and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

    1. Thank you Aiva. I agree and you will see tomorrow an actor turned artist whom I really like in both worlds. Another one was Tony Bennet, who did study art and painting as a young man… So there are some and there are others, but art, just like acting, is a serious profession which although lends itself to amateurs, is a profession. Thank you so much and all the best!
