Dear Diary, Page 911

(«Self-Portrait 23» by Francisco Bravo Cabrera/All Rights Reserved)

I remember watching a speech by George W. Bush and the part that stuck in my brain was his condemnation of «conspiracy theories.» Take a look/listen:

Before that, well before the attacks on 11 SEP 2001, I had never really thought about such things as conspiracy theories. But I did start thinking about them since then. It seemed to me the proper thing to do because the «official» story was so outrageous…

I am an artist. I believe in non-linear thinking. I believe in fantasy. I am anti-logic and I question all things, especially those «things» deemed «official» in any capacity. I still believe in God. I reject the fad, or the thought that creative people have to be atheists or commies. I am liberal-minded but definitely a Right Winger. I don’t care if the «official story» comes from La Moncloa, (seat of Spanish elected government), Downing Street, (seat of British elected government), The White House (seat of elected US government, although some may deny it), or the WHO, (seat of supposed experts that lied to us about COVID-19), if one of their so-called «experts» is telling me the «truth.» I tend to doubt it, or more than likely, I do not believe it.

So I guess I am a conspiracy theorist, according to those who would deny me the right to question their absolute and unquestionable authority. Not! As a student of something they no longer teach (History), I know that conspiracies have always existed. Some very elaborate, others not so, but the government has always lied, whether it was a Sultan, a Pharaoh, a King or a bloody Minister or MP.

So I invite you to prove things for yourselves. Take a look at the Internet. One has to wonder why has the internet shrunk since the 1990’s! Why has Google controlled most…if not all…the content one can have access to? Why are bots regulating what is placed on YouTube et cetera? Why? Why? Why? Why are algorhithms deciding what is and what is not free speech? Or are they? Could it be that they are taking directions from those who would control our thoughts, our language and our communication?

Wasn’t there a case, very recently, in the US state of Florida where a school principal was fired because she showed a picture of Michelangelo’s «David?» The puritans argued it was pornography!!! How backwards can you get??? And how crazy! The «David», a religious figure, was banned! Those are usually the ones saying people like me are «conspiracy theorists» because we talk about the truth, and the facts, only the facts…

There used to be so much more content just a few years ago in the internet, now most of that content has been «disappeared» from places such as YouTube or other platforms. I used to research my «conspiracy theories» all the time and now all I see are videos «debunking» conspiracies. Why?

I know, dear Diary, that a lot of readers (if they have read the article) are going to say that I am simply bonkers and that I perhaps should attend to more important things. Naturally, because the majority believes what the media (press, TV news, newspapers or internet sites) tells them. They do not question anything. They prefer to believe some outrageous theory, just because it comes from a government source and is deemed «official» than a supposed «conspiracy theory» that closely aligns with something more realistic…

I wonder what they all think out there. I don’t know, so please let me know what you think. Of course in a civilised manner.

Cheers…

I completely agree with the things you’ve mentioned. Knowing the truth is such a difficult task these days. People of higher authority want to control the information we get through the press and media.

  4. The world was much more liberal with dispensing knowledge and encouraging discovery back in the good old days. I agree with your post!

I don’t disagree with the main thrust of your post Francesc, as you knew I wouldn’t, but I would like to add that being economical with the truth isn’t just the preserve of those in authority or the media. I see it around me all the time. People of a high intellect will always try and bamboozle us mere mortals with science and big words, but on the opposite side of the spectrum are those who can hardly string two words together (unless they resort to using profanities) and try to convince everyone else that they’ve got the answer to all the world’s problems. If they looked a bit closer to home, they might just see that they are part of the problem.

    1. Very true Malc. I agree. But I tell you I used to really enjoy (it was entertaining) the “conspiracy theory” videos which have been taken offline…

  6. The only reason the David statue was an issue was because children were involved. Our children are under assault by pedophiles and other creeps in America, so there has been a backlash against anything that smacks of inappropriate behavior with children.

    1. But Dawn, the “David” is a religious inspired work of art…
