Esta gran artista rumana-norteamericana ha sido totalmente ignorada por aquellos que se han adueñado de la historia del arte y esto no puede seguir así. En su época fue discriminada por el circulo de artistas que gobernaban las vanguardias. Claro, eran todos unos machirulos que pensaban que la presencia de una mujer artista les restaba seriedad. Os la presento porque hay que conocerla. Vivió cien años, pinto una gran cantidad de cuadros pero solo se le recuerda…por algunos pocos…como la única mujer en la famosa foto de los irascibles de 1951 tomada por la revista norteamericana Life Magazine. This great Rumanian-American artist is truly one totally ignored by those who control art history, and this has to stop. She was discriminated in her own day by the male artists…all macho, macho men…who governed the vanguards of art. In fact the group thought that the mere presence of women artists detracted from the seriousness of their work! I want to introduce you to her because she is important and we must get to know her work. She lived one hundred years and painted plenty to only be remembered…by a select few in fact…for being the only woman in the famous photograph of the Irascibles taken by Life Magazine in 1951. Now watch the video and then tell me what you think. And I’ve only given you a taste of her work, it is up to you to follow up and research.
