#poem, «REMEMBERING»

There’s dancing in the street!
The bands are playing!
Run, run, run!
Don’t you miss a single beat,
the breeze is swaying,
the beer is flowing,
the smiles are growing,
the laughter and the cheers!
Oh! What a lovely day to be right here!

Here…
I know, it doesn’t look like home,
or much of a home…
I know,
yes, I’m quite aware,
there’s rubbish everywhere…
But here’s where I’m remembering the things I used to do,
the happy way I sang and danced
when it was me and you…

When it was us who raised our glasses,
when it was us who called the feast,
when you and I,
would celebrate
each day,
each happy day,
each blessed day,
but now they don’t exist.

Yet here I am remembering as I look upon a crowd
of happy people, dancing, singing,
laughing all around…

      I was also very touched when I saw the huge celebration across the street from where that man sat… I thought I should honour him somehow…

      Thank you so much Brad. When I saw that man sitting there, homeless, hopeless and alone, and across from him hundreds having a great time, drinking and dancing, it touched me and I needed to write about it. Thanks and all the best.
