«Balloon Dog Blue», the sculpture that was accidentally broken while on tour to the prestigious «Art Wynwood» fair in Miami, had been a collaboration between artist Jeff Koons and porcelain house Bernardaud. Balloon Dog Blue had been inaugurated at the Dubai World Expo in 2021 and calculated to be worth somewhere around $41.000 (USD), or around 39.000 euros. The sculpture was made of porcelain and measured 40x48x16cm. Only 799 of these little shiny blue dogs were ever created.
It was stated that the collector who accidentally gave a little kick to the stand that held the little blue dog never intended to break it. The shiny sculpture was insured.

Esto pudo haber sido todo un paripé, digo yo…
This could have all been a big act, I say…
That is an interesting story indeed. Perhaps a publicity stunt. I don’t know but now I want to look this artist up. Thanks for sharing Francis. Sending big hugs and love to you both 🌹🦋. PS there is a new law about guns that passed in the Senate and is now in the house. It still isn’t enough but it would be a wonderful start. Blessings 🦋

This «artist» is really a business man and I wouldn’t put it above him to pull a publicity stunt like this for his little balloon dog. I mean haven’t we seen these balloons made by clowns at children’s birthday celebrations? And yes, I heard about the law in the US Senate. It is good and I hope it becomes law. As you probably know, there was another shooting in Orlando, Fla… our love to you both…

I am sure it is a stunt. Yes people hire clowns at children’s parties to make those little animals with balloons. I can’t believe that people are paying good money for that stuff. But then I can’t believe Andy Warhol in 1962 soup can, not from the original series was sold for 11.7 million in 2006. Think of the poor people that could have had homes for what that painting cost. I always thought that was nuts too. Unfortunately we are both worried that the Senate will never pass any restrictive laws on gun control. Yes, another shooting, a little nine year old dead and two others I believe. So far in 2023 in the United States we are averaging 2 mass shooting a day. Why bother even going out there, as there is no safe place to go. Scott showed me a photo the other day on facebook of a man leaving a grocery store with a hand gun on each side of his hips and one that was tucked opening in the middle of his pants in the back. If I would have seen that man I would have been so frightened. Only in the USA. I am so grateful I have my faith because the world just gets more and more frightening. Believe me your family and mine are on the same page. Blessing and love to you two

Blessings and love to you and Scott. Remember, as I know you do, that God is in charge, but as beleivers we should always reinforce our faith and seek answers through prayer, fasting and meditation. Big hugs to you both.

Frankly Sir, I think it was staged for publicity…

What a shame – I don’t think.

Right, I don’t think anything was lost. I do believe it was staged…

Staged or not, it’s no great loss in my view. I think he’s an over-rated artist, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if you were not right in your thinking.

And I agree with you, no great loss. If you ever want to have a good long laugh, take a look at his «sculpture» of Michael Jackson! His «Bunny» was also the most expensive «art» piece, at one time, and it was just a copy of a children’s toy! He is an astute businessman, nothing more…

Con man more like it.

I think it was all staged as Jeff Koons is more of a business man than an artist. I’ve seen that dog made by clowns at all children’s parties! Big fraud!

He is just a big act alright ::)

Para mi de artista no tiene nada, es un comerçant y punto y esto fue todo un teatro…

Well, nothing much was lost, Dawn…

I agree, it probably was a scam. Just an insurance fraud. The sculpture really wasn’t very original.

None of his work can be considered original in any way. If you want to laugh (loud and hard) you should take a look at some of his sculptures of Michael Jackson from back in the 80’s!
