I love still-life paintings! The magic of still-life paintings is that they can show us a new way of looking at the ordinary objects around us. Once they are placed into a specific arrangement and then captured in paint, ink, pastel, or any other medium – the objects take on a whole new meaning. Yes, it is quite an interesting art form. In Spanish and French it is called «naturaleza muerta» (nature mort) which adds a certain different dimension to the work, as that means it is nature dead, or dead nature which reaffirms that death is the only way nature can «stand still».
