
El Museo Nacional del Prado en el centro de Madrid contiene algunas de las colecciones de arte mas importante de Europa además de la mejor colección de arte española de todos las épocas. El museo fue fundado en 1819 y es considerado uno de los mejores museos del mundo. Aquí podrás ver muchísimas obras de Goya, de Hieronymus Bosch (El Bosco), El Greco, Rubens y Diego Velázquez, entre muchos otros. En la colección del Prado hay 8.200 dibujos, 7.600 pinturas, 4.800 laminas artísticas y 1.000 esculturas entre otras obras de arte y numerosos documentos históricos.
Pero hoy quiero interesarte por la exposición de retratos de Joaquín Sorolla que abrió en diciembre (2022) y sigue hasta junio del 2023.
Joaquín Sorolla, pintor valenciano nacido en 1863 es conocido como el pintor de la luz. A través de su carrera se dedico a los retratos, y a los paisajes, especialmente los de las playas de Valencia. Murió en 1923. Se le considera artista iluminista e impresionista.

The Museo Nacional del Prado, located in the centre of Madrid has some of the most important art collections of Europe and houses the best of Spanish art. The museum opened in 1819 and is considered one of the best museums in the world. Here you can see many of the works of Goya, Hieronymus Bosch (El Bosco), El Greco, Rubens and Diego Velázquez, among others. In the museum’s collection there are 8,200 drawings, 7,600 paintings, 4,800 prints and 1,000 sculptures among other works of art and historical documents.
But today I want to interest you in the current exhibition of portraits by Joaquín Sorolla. The exhibit opened in December (2022) and will continue until June of 2023.
Joaquín Sorolla, painter, and native of my hometown Valencia was born in 1863. He is known as the painter of light. Throughout his career he painted portraits and landscapes, especially of the beaches of our Valencia. He died in 1923. Sorolla is classified as a Luminist and an Impressionist.

I totally agree with you about the wonderful Prado Francesc. Joaquin Sorolla is a name that I’m not familiar with but I’m impressed with his work that you’ve shown here. I like it a lot.

I understand why they call him the painter of light. His works are exceptional. His contrast of like and shadow gives great depth to his paintings. I love all the works you shared and am inspired to seek out more. Great post, brother!
