I am sailing through the beautiful Aegean Sea off the coast of Turkey. It’s nice and hot but the waters, oh, those crystal clear blue waters are about 15 degrees Celsius, so a wet suit is my choice before I can no longer resist the desire to dive in and take a look below the surface. Later I climb back into our yacht and pour myself a cold Efes beer in a frozen glass. Yes! The joys of sailing…
And I started thinking about the times that we are crossing through. We are travelling over borders that we should respect and never desecrate. I am seeing thoughts, images reflected on to the vaulty cavities of my mind, things that I would have never imagined. These are horrific that I could have guessed would only be included in cheap sci-fi movies or B grade horror flicks.
The new Inquisitors have arrived and they populate the highest spheres of political power. The new Moralists are governing us with their Medieval mentality and fables and worse, they are indoctrinating our young ones in order to turn them into sheep.
And I am going to leave it there. Don’t force me dear diary to continue because I am thoroughly grossed out by these thoughts that reflect our present day reality. I prefer to stick to the fantasy that has always, or almost always been our preferred topic when you, dear diary, accompany me through thoughts.
Ciao…
Thanks for that chilling look beneath the beautiful beginning. The darkness is arising.

It seems we’re sliding backwards to the dark ages…

It can seem like that.

For sure…

Beautifully written, Francis. So very sad but true about the times in which we live.

It is very sad Janet. It seems as if all the freedoms that we, and so many people fought for back in the 60’s and 70’s are being destroyed by this neo-puritanical fanatics bent on taking away rights and setting civilisation on a backwards trend.

Sad times, without a doubt. I always worried about the regression of society, but I never thought it would look like this. Great post, Francisco!

Yes, it looks absolutely absurd, insane and malevolent. Thank you so much my brother!

Such a great post and beautifully written, Francisco 🙂 In this challenging, chaotic time, there are moments when many of us, even optimists, fear that society is regressing. Is this fear justified? Are we really moving backwards? Or is what we are seeing a temporary detour on the path forward?

Thank you so very much Aiva, I truly appreciate your words, your input into this discussion and your questions. I certainly do hope that it is a temporary detour on the path forward. Only time will tell. But I do think that people must really wake up, wise-up and realise they are being wrongly led. Television and movies are filled with bad examples of behaviour, for everybody and that is without mentioning the so-called «influencers»! Isn’t that ridiculous? Now we need people on Tik-Tock to «influence» us and guide us. But in what direction? So many prohibitions! So many new restrictive laws! Past generations fought for freedom and now we get repression. Past generations fought for Peace («Give Peace a Chance» by John Lennon for example) and now we get more and more wars! It’s incredible… But we must hope for the best and if we all wake up, the best will certainly be our future and the future for our coming generations. All the best Aiva!
