#poetry, «You’d be Right, I’d be Wrong, (You are the Sunflower I see Through My Window)»

What could I say if you think me a dreamer,
a laughable fool.
Is it because I once told you I flew in a spaceship
above ancient Egypt,
on top of the pyramids
on top of the sphinx?
I rode in a drone occupied by a poet.
I flew through the winds like a comet,
buzzing the skyscrapers that reach to the moon.

I was a pirate on the Seas of orange blossoms,
marmalade and Irish whiskey,
a general,
an admiral,
a thief,
a troubadour in northern Italy,
a jester in the court of Henry,
the lunatic,
the fraud.

So if you think I am a dreamer,
Immersed in my fantasy,
forgetful of logic,
reason
and science,
in love with wild legends,
with magic,
with wonders,
If you think me like that,
You’d be right,
I’d be wrong,
because you are the sunflower that I see through my window…

    This is beautiful, my friend. The from and flow are smooth and lulling like a dream. Wonderful imagery spins among heady existential philosophies. The reader is asked to imagine, and the mind responds with no effort. The crash into reality in your ending is powerful and palpable. One of your best, my friend. Bravo!
