Puede que esculturas como estas os resulten bastante inquietantes, pero así es el hiperrealismo. En este caso un elemento en particular, el hecho que la escultura de la recién nacida es tan extremadamente grande, me provoca interés. Me cuadra cuando el artista usa el genero…que es aburridísimo…para crear algo mucho mas interesante.
Ron Mueck, nacido en 1958, es un escultor australiano que trabaja en el Reino Unido.
Sculptures like these can be a bit unsettling or even creepy, but that is the essence of hyperrealism. In this particular instance, the fact that the sculpture of the new-born is so huge, has made me take an interest. I like when an artist uses the genre…a most boring one…to create something much more interesting.

Interesting piece, Francis. That enormous newborn baby is quite an attention getter and illustrates the topic perfectly. The Duane Hanson piece does nothing for me. My immediate reaction was that it illustrates the gluttony of Americans. I don’t know if that was his point or not, but it’s not something I want to see again. The Mike Dargas piece just makes me want to ask, «Why?» The video of Paula Bonet’s work was interesting. Her paintings seem more creative and expressive than the other examples. Great post about hyperrealism, even though it’s not my cup of tea. I enjoy learning about the different genres of art.

Thank you Janet. As you might have noticed it is not my cup of tea either. Perhaps Duane Hanson’s work is social commentary, I don’t know I did see his work exhibited at the Ft.Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport about 20 years ago and it just creeped me out. And I agree about Dargas, I mean they make nice fashion magazine covers but what else? In my new video I do focus on two hyperrealist artists whose work I do find interesting because they use the techniques but create something much more interesting. I hope you like them. Pues, acerca de la obra de las personas comunes y corrientes no estoy completamente de acuerdo. Mi punto de vista es que están en un fondo limpio, sólo están ellos con sus estéticas al hyper consumistas sin ningún sentido de la estética, algo contradictorio, esté tipo de personas andan con montones de cosas, su vida se fundamenta en el exceso.
No sé!!!

Gracias, venga y li has dicho muy bien, es como un desafío a la fotografía, pero para mi sin mucho valor artístico. En la segunda parte si expongo a dos artistas que supieron utilizar la técnica del hiperrealismo para crea algo mucho más interesante. Ojalá te guste. Un saludo.
