Estoy de acuerdo, muy de acuerdo con el gran Oscar Wilde porque eso de tener que seguir la corriente, se me parece mucho a ser borrego. El gobierno, la ciencia, los profesores, los politicos, los curas y hasta nuestros padres nos quieren adoctrinar, entrenar y hacernos iguales a todos los «demás.» Y yo digo que están de más en nuestras vidas. Creo que el resultado de tanta manipulación puede resultar en chicos que salen tontos, aburridos, desequilibrados, violentos y en el peor de los casos asesinos psicópatas. En el mejor de los casos, aunque siguen siendo torcidos y narcisistas, llegan a ser presidente del gobierno de España.
Así que no te sientas mal si dicen que nadas contra la corriente. Sonríe por dentro…y por fuera…y sepas que no estas locos como la mayoría…

El arte es patrimonio y pertenencia exclusivamente del ser humano. Para mi no hay discusión. Por ahí abundan definiciones de lo que es, o suponen que sea, el arte, pero a mi las cosas que dicen los expertos, los críticos y los historiadores me importan muy poco. Yo se lo que he descubierto, lo que he aprendido y lo que busco aprender, pero siempre busco aprender de quienes no tengan intereses ni sean tíos mediatizados.
Ya he visto bastantes por aquí y por allá diciendo que son artistas porque han bajado una app de IA. Si el arte fuera así, tan simplón, tan seco, tan falta de espíritu, emoción, corazón, ni nos hubiéramos enterado de su existencia. Se hubiera acabado con los primeros artistas, los de las cavernas. Pero, vamos, tampoco tiremos la casa por la ventana. La IA tiene su cosa y hay que reconocer que puede ser una herramienta útil, como lo es, por ejemplo el tubo donde, hace ya mucho tiempo, comenzaron a poner la pintura ya lista para usar. Esto le fue muy útil a los artistas que antes tenían que mezclar los pigmentos para crear los colores.
Tampoco tenemos que pensar que por el advenimiento de la IA se acabaran los artistas porque en la música se creo el sintetizador y no reemplazo a los músicos, sino se usó como otro instrumento más y también como una herramienta que ayudaría a darle a las canciones otros sonidos…
Pero bueno, estas cosas son solo las cosas típicas del S. XXI y nada mas. Lo que quería deciros es lo mucho que me gustan los colores. Y también que he ocultado, entre estos cuadros que veis, uno nuevo, ¿Sabéis cual es?

Just to give you a brief preview of my upcoming show at the museum «SALA D’EXPOSICIONS JUNTA MUNICIPAL CIUTAT VELLA.» In other words at the Exhibition centre of Ciutat Vella (Old Town) in Valencia, Spain. The show, «Be Bold» (or Atreveix-te/Atrévete), will open on October 13 and run through the 23rd of the month.
This is my first solo show in quite a while and I am looking forward to presenting paintings from all periods of my artistic life. Beginning with paintings from the early days in Miami (2003) to the most recent. Along with the paintings I plan to include black and white (as well as watercolour) drawings and as a special event a short series of Euro-Ku with their respective illustrations. The exhibition will also include my abstract works.
So, if in October 2023 you happen to be anywhere in Spain, take the fast train to Valencia (we’re well connected here) for a few days, check out the show and say hello. We’d love to meet you…

The Euro-Ku is my idea, and I «invented» the form in February of 2022 while thinking about writing a traditional Haiku and realising that I was not spiritually or culturally equipped to do so. Spirituality in art has everything to do with being contemporary and true to your history and culture. Therefore there was no way that I could transform my mind into the mind of a Japanese poet writing Haikus…
I thought about it and, loving the simplicity and straightforwardness of the Haiku, I came up with a version which would be true to my European/Western thought, spirituality and history, the «Euro-Ku.» It has three stanzas, but without syllabic count restrictions and the verses must flow into each other clearly, not flow off into outer space. The addition is that it must be accompanied by an unedited original image created by the poet. The version for the Americas is the Ameri-Ku, which wonderful poets from the United States have already engaged.
