Venga, aquí va la numero tres de esta serie de exquisitas pianistas, que aparte de ser autenticas bellezas son grandes maestras de la música y del piano. Pues entonces os presento a Inga Fiolia, alemana-georgiana, graduada del Conservatorio Tchaikovsky de la Escuela Central de Música de Moscú y del conservatorio alemán Cologne Musikhochschule… Inga ha tocado con todas las orquestas mas importantes del mundo. En 2019 hizo su debut en Lincoln Center de Nueva York y en 2020 tocó sus propios arreglos de piezas de Beethoven acompañada de Rhani Krija, el percusionista de Sting, en el Festival de Piano de Ruhr. Fue una premier y además el concierto fue grabado en directo… Fiolia ha grabado también varios discos, el ultimo siendo del 2022… Creo que vais a disfrutar mucho de esta música y ahi va…

Here comes number three of this series of exquisite pianists, who apart from being authentic beauties are masters of music and of the piano. So, let me introduce you to Inga Fiolia, German-Georgian, a graduate of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of the Central Music School of Moscow and the German conservatory Cologne Musikhochschule… Inga has performed with all the most important orchestras in the world. In 2019, she made her debut at the Lincoln Center in New York and in 2020, she played her own arrangements of Beethoven’s pieces accompanied by Rhani Krija, Sting’s percussionist, at the Ruhr Piano Festival. It was a premiere and furthermore, the concert was recorded live… Fiolia has also recorded several albums, the latest being from 2022… I think you are going to enjoy this music a lot, so here it goes…
Bueno en esta segunda parte de nuestro jueves, mitad de la semana, dedicado a la música y a los músicos, tenemos a otra pianista que no solo es una autentica belleza, si no una genuina maestra de su instrumento. Khatia, o Jatia Buniatishvili nació en 1987 en la ciudad de Batumi, un bello puerto de mar de Georgia. Esta maravillosa chica vive en París y fue nacionalizada francesa en 2017… Khatia comenzó a los seis años a tocar recitales y a dar conciertos con la Orquesta de Cámara en Tbilisi… A los diez años daba conciertos en Rusia, Ucrania, Armenia, Israel y Estados Unidos… es graduada de la Escuela Central de Música de Tbilisi, y del Conservatorio Estatal de Tiflis… Aunque le gustaba más el violin porque decía que el piano era un instrumento que simbolizaba la soledad, se dedico únicamente al piano… Ha tocado con casi todas las orquestas más reconocidas del mundo… Ha ganado un ramillete de premios y honores y reconocimientos a través de sus años en la música y ha grabado varios discos desde el 2011 al 2020…

In this second part of our Thursday, midweek, dedicated to music and musicians, we have another pianist who is not only a true beauty but also a genuine master of her instrument. Khatia, or Jatia Buniatishvili, was born in 1987 in the city of Batumi, a beautiful seaside port in Georgia. This gorgeous girl lives in Paris and became a French citizen in 2017. Khatia started playing recitals and performing with the Chamber Orchestra in Tbilisi at the age of six. By the age of ten, she was giving concerts in Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Israel, and the United States. She is a graduate of the Central Music School in Tbilisi and the Tiflis State Conservatoire. Although she preferred the violin, because she felt that the piano was an instrument symbolizing loneliness, she dedicated herself solely to the piano. She has performed with nearly all of the world’s most renowned orchestras, won a host of awards, honours, and recognitions throughout her years in music, and has recorded several albums from 2011 to 2020.
Esta chica nació en Pekin en febrero de 1987 y es un pedazo de pianista clásica… Viene de familia artística y musical ya que su madre es una bailarina y su padre un percusionista… Es un autentico fenómeno al piano, instrumento que comenzó a estudiar a los seis años de edad… A los 21 años ya tenía fama y daba recitales por el mundo entero… Logró contrato con Deutsche Grammophon y en una entrevista con el Los Angeles Times, ha dicho que para ella tocar es transportarse a otro modo de vida, otra forma de ser, aludiendo al mundo interior de los actores…
Se llama Yuja Wang, vive en Pekin y ha ganado un mogollón de concursos internacionales, ha tocado con las orquestas mas famosas de la música culta. Aquí en España tocó con la Hong Kong Philharmonic y ha tocado por casi toda Europa, Asia y America. En 2009 grabó su primer CD con Deutsche Grammophon y después nueve mas. Pero lo más fascinante es que Yuja recibe tanta atención por su indumentaria como por su maestría del piano. Ya lo veréis…

Omnia Caelum Studios started in Miami, Florida, June of 2003. That year I exhibited professionally for the first time in a gallery in Istanbul, Turkey. I did not think my paintings would go too far and I knew nothing about Turkey or about their culture. Much less did I know about their likes and dislikes when it came to choosing or collecting paintings. All I knew was that I would be a foreign artist, a European artist coming from the United States who painted bright, colourful scenes of jazz, dancers, movement and bodies, many bodies… But the show went very, very good for me. I sold three paintings out of the five I exhibited and it helped me to establish my presence overseas.
I came back to Miami (my home base at the time) and I started working on a new project. I chose Manhattan. Of course, New York, exhibiting in the Big Apple is obviously the dream of many artists and I was a dreamer. So I headed off north on the Interstate 95 in my Jeep Cherokee with ten paintings, the largest ones I had painted at the time. I had negotiated a contract with a gallery in Brooklyn which was also owned by a Turk, and I had been given a one moth show. The show went well but I did not sell…
So I stayed in New York. I moved my show to SoHo to a gallery called Amsterdam-Whitney and I exhibited there for 15 days. The vernissage was an authentic blast. One of the artists, it was a mixed show, was the wife of actor Christopher Walken and he was at the opening. One of the other guests was the «Prince of Darkness» a rather intriguing character who dressed like an English Lord but with a kilt. I kept looking at him wondering if it was true, that he really was a vampire. I sold one large and very expensive painting during that show, but it helped me establish my presence and I met many people.
I had a third New York exhibition in that year at the New World Gallery, also in SoHo. I only exhibited four large paintings but I did sell one of them…
In any event my experiences abroad gave me many ideas and when I returned to Miami I set my eyes on the developing local scene. This landed me a spot at the coveted «Cultural Fridays» events sponsored by the city of Miami. I presented my work and was selected artist of the month (October) in 2005. That year I searched and found new ways to express my painting and digital work…

Little by little, at times and with giant steps other times, the perfect combination of fast and slow, I started to develop my talent, (through hard work) and my abilities to create. I started to make something of my university education. I recall one of my professors who said that now that we were graduating we should forget all the academic learning and just go out there and create. I took that to heart…
I have to say that life as a working artist for me has been (and certainly still is) a rewarding endeavour and a lot of fun. And one of the best perks is travelling and sailing…
