Well, this drawing, from the «JaZzArT» series, was born in Miami when we were Omnia Caelum Studios Miami in 2018, just before moving to Spain. I had left it, semi-forgotten and unfinished, until now that I have finished it and it is already for sale…

¿Censura o Estupidez?

Censorship or Stupidity?
This is the epidemy of stupidity! Unbelievable but true! Check this out, «Mary Poppins» is now rated PG and not suitable for all audiences in the United Kingdom! And it’s all because of one insignificant little word: «hottentot.» This places «Mary Poppins» among many other movies, books and theatre pieces that have been banned, revised or otherwise «cleansed» so that new audiences won’t be polluted by their bad, politically incorrect examples, themes or words used. They were made «politically correct» by the new Inquisitors, who, in my opinion, are worst than the ones from the Middle Ages… Others have suffered the same or a worse fate like the characters of «Looney Tunes”, and movies such as «Gone With the Wind», Stanley Kubrick’s «Lolita» and Woody Allen’s «Manhattan», to name but a few. The new moralists have decided that the sexual content, racial content or violence in these (and all the others not here mentioned) must be purged and they’ve done so. Books have also suffered the same lunatic censorship… So folks, Medieval times is here again! Forget about the sexual revolution, freedom of expression, creative liberties, now you march to the drums of the new Stalinists and Maoists which have imposed their morality upon you! And all I really ask myself is who the feck are these guys and why do people listen to them?
These three songs are great, for sure, and I know they are pop songs, and hits in their day, but I really don’t know in what category I can place them in…
«Build Me Up Buttercup» Written by Mike d’Abo and Tony Macaulay, a smash hit by the British group The Foundations. Although they called themselves a «soul» group, I really don’t know if it is soul or what…
2. The next song is from an American pop group, Spiral Staircase, and titled «More Today Than Yesterday» released in 1969. It’s soulful too, but I just can’t call it soul…
3. The last one is «Vehicle» released in 1970 by the American group The Ides of March. I know the band calls itself a rock-jazz band, and they are jazzy and certainly rock, but what are they…
Take a listen, I am sure they will take you down memory lane (for some) and for others they will be fresh and new. And they do sound fresh and new…
