El arte naif no sigue, ni reconoce, ninguna de las reglas (normas) del arte. Los pintores naif no tienen escuela ni conocimiento de arte. No saben de la teoría del color, no entienden de la perspectiva, ni se curran mucho la composición, su obra es elemental y muy básica, y por supuesto no les importan las exposiciones. Y por supuesto no quieren saber de nada de eso. El pintor naif más famoso fue Henri Rousseau, nacido en Francia en 1844. Rousseau, que comenzó a pintar a los 49 años de edad, en una ocasión le dijo a Picasso que ellos dos eran los mas grandes pintores, Picasso al estilo egipcio y él al estilo modernista. Tiene tela… Pero yo me pregunto, ¿Si algo no sigue las normas del arte ni las reglas, sigue siendo arte? No se… A mi me gustan muchos cuadros naif y creo que muchos sirven para aprender y pensar, pero ¿Son obras de arte, o ejercicios? A ver si tu me lo dices…

Naïve art does not follow or recognize any of the rules (norms) of art. Naive painters have no school or art knowledge. They do not understand color theory, perspective, or composition. Their work is basic and very simple, and of course they do not care about exhibitions. And they certainly do not want to know anything about art or art history. The most famous naïve painter was Henri Rousseau, born in France in 1844. Rousseau, who started painting at the age of 49, once told Picasso that they were the greatest painters, Picasso in the Egyptian style and he in the modernist style. Quite something… But I wonder, if something does not follow the norms or rules of art, is it still art? So what do you think? Not only was he a poet, a philologist, a professor of languages (he spoke about 10 languages), but now you know he was a magnificent illustrator. He dominated drawing techniques and applied them brilliantly to his imaginative powers.
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (J. R. R. Tolkien) died in 1973 and is buried with his wife of fifty five years, Edith Marie, at the Wolvercote Cemetery in Oxford, England.
Definitely he is one of my favourites. I have read his books many times and still enjoy them tremendously, not to mention the movies made of his works. A true master of the word and the image.

Sus murales representan a personajes de la actualidad, En este caso dos de nuestros grandes futbolistas, Lamine Yamal y Nico WIlliams, ambos de nuestra selección española de futbol. TVBoy nació en Palermo en 1980 y es, como veis, un artista callejero. Muchos de sus murales, incluyendo el de Montserrat Caballé y Pau Donés, están en el distrito de Gracia en la ciudad de Barcelona.
Esperemos que nuestra selección gane la copa en domingo!

TVBoy’s murals depict current personalities, in this case two great footballers, Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams, both from our Spanish national football team. TVBoy was born in Palermo in 1980, and is, as you can see, a street artist. Many of his murals, including those of Montserrat Caballé and Pau Donés, are in the district of Gracia in the city of Barcelona.

Tina Modotti fue fotógrafa, artista y revolucionaria… Nació en 1896 en Udine, Italia. Fue también modelo, actriz y activista del Comintern. Vivió en San Francisco, EEUU y luego, en 1922, se trasladó a México donde militó en el Partido Comunista Mexicano. Parece que en esa época era popular unirse a causas fallidas, como ahora lo es también, pero bueno, para gusto los colores. La presento aquí porque presento a todas que han aportado algo a la historia del arte…

Una obra de esta artista llegó a ser la obra más cara de la historia en 2018. Fue «Propped» (de 1992) y se vendió (en subasta) por 10 millones de euros. Pero no importa, es una mujer y los hombres ganan más pues en la lista de los que mas valen están solo hombres. Algunos de estos son Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst y Banksy, artistas de los cuales no quiero ni acordarme porque uno es un empresario, el otro es un artista con poca imaginación y gusto y el tercero es un «activista» contra sistema que vive muy bien gracias al sistema. La obra de Jenny Saville si la considero arte, buena y verdadera, además de única, original, y muy bien hecha. Saville es una artista consagrada y muy bien preparada. No es una grafitera ni una a la que se le hubiera ocurrido meter un tiburón en un tanque de formol, ni tampoco hace un conejito de acero inoxidable (o de que se yo…), como el de los payasos en los cumpleaños de los críos.

One is more of a business man than anything else, the other has very little imagination and taste and the third one is an «activist» against the «establishment» which has made him very, very rich. Jenny Saville is a real artist, trained and hard working. She is unique, original and well committed to her art. She is no graffiti activist or one who puts a shark in a tank of formaldehyde or one whose workers have created a bunny made of stainless steel (or whatever).

No conocía mucho de esta mujer que ejerció su arte en Cuba y fue parte de la generación de los vanguardistas. Nació en 1896 en la provincia (tradicional*) de Las Villas, y murió en 1968 en La Habana. Comenzó a los 20 años en la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, «San Alejandro» y recibe su diploma en 1924. En 1927 se traslada a Francia y hace muchas cortas visitas a España y a Italia. Regresó a Cuba en 1934 y lamentablemente tubo que vivir bajo la represión del sistema usurpador que desgobierna a Cuba hasta su muerte.

I did not really know much about this woman artist from Cuba that was part of the avant-guarde generation of artists. She was born in 1896 in the province (traditional*) of Las Villas and died in La Habana in 1968. At the age of 20 years she enrolled at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes «San Alejandro» and graduated in 1924. In 1927 she moved to France but made many short trips to Spain and Italy. She returned to Cuba in 1934 and lamentably she had to live under the repression of the usurper government that mal-governs Cuba until her death.
