#art, So Far, Some of My Work, Summer of 2024
Well, the summer of 2024 is not over but I feel I am accomplishing something. I have painted two acrylic on canvas paintings, two watercolour/ink drawings, several «Art Digital» paintings, written some poetry and parts of my upcoming book, plus keeping up with VALENCIARTIST, FEATURES by VALENCIARTIST, exercising, sailing and Wine Time!
Here are some of the work I have done this summer:

#art, Carnaval No. 7 ya en OCS Valencia…
En 2007 y 2008 una galería de Miami (Red Bar Gallery) llevó mis cuadros y los expuso en Art Basel Miami Beach. Expusieron una serie de cuadros que había pintado basándome en el tema del carnaval. Ya están todos tranquilos y felices formando parte de colecciones privadas en EEUU y Europa. Pero la idea del carnaval, de sus colores, de la intención urbana de tal cosa no se me ha ido de la cabeza y por eso decidí revivir la serie con esta pieza, «Carnaval No. 7». Yo siempre he pensado que la vida es un cabaret pero he llegado a pensar que entonces los sueños son un carnaval. Sigamos soñando…

#art, As I Am Painting this Summer (2024)
Durante el verano a la gente le gusta escapar de la ciudad, de la rutina y del calor y darse un buen chapuzón en el Mediterráneo y disfrutar de unas bien merecidas vacaciones. Y yo de acuerdo al ciento por ciento, pero…como soy adicto a la faena…no puedo quedarme con los brazos cruzados debajo de una palmera cogiendo fresco y bebiendo cerveza, tengo que currar. Un artista nunca descansa, vale? Entonces desde que estoy por estos lares donde suelo pasar los veranos, he estado currando. Os muestro lo que he pintado hasta ahora, durante julio (2024).

Summertime, for most is the time to get away, to enjoy a nice holiday away from the usual routine. I agree. I would not miss a summer getaway for anything as long as I can, God willing. But, as a workaholic, I cannot just sit leisurely by being caressed by the gentle breezes from the Mediterranean or the Aegean Sea and do nothing. So this summer (2024) was no exception. Here is what I have done so far…

Querido diario, madre mía , hoy casi todo son preguntas. Vamos a ver quien me las va contestar, ¿Tú? Veremos…
¿Por qué citan y dan reportajes cuando la fuente de información de origen es Hamas en nuestros telediarios? Me parece muy sospechoso y muy deleznable que una agencia noticiosa…supuestamente…europea cite y acepte «noticias» de un grupo terrorista asesino, ¿No?
¿Por qué hablan de asesinatos en Gaza? En la guerra hay bajas y quizá algunas sean daños colaterales, pero los únicos que asesinan en esa region de Israel son los terroristas de Hamas. Y dicho sea de paso, Israel fue quien construyó toda esa region de Gaza…
¿Por qué le dan tanta importancia y le dedican tanto tiempo a dictadores como Maduro, el de Venezuela? ¿Por qué no le dan más importancia a la oposición democrática que quiere liberar a ese país que sufre?
¿Por qué nunca hablan de los crímenes cometidos por los regímenes comunistas, o «socialistas» del mundo? Que casualidad que para los «progres» los únicos malos son los derechistas. Entonces me parece que de progresista no tienen ni la «p» porque el comunismo es una atrocidad y un atraso garrafal. ¿No?
Bueno, querido diario, parece ser que hay muchos devotos de la santa hipocresía…

Somehow they have reached in and taught my eternal soul something new and left images well engraved in my mind. With Full Metal Jacket, one of the movies that I can really relate to in many ways, it was the closing scene…
There are some truly surreal things that happen in the middle and the aftermath of a battle. Soldiers disengage from the hyper alertness of the fight and you never know what can come out of their mouths. Maybe even something like the Mickey Mouse Club song…

-And what of those who live in the dark, the dirty, the neglected part of town where crime is rampant, gangsters rule and life is cheap?
-And of those who live a life of nothingness?
-And those who have paid their debt to society but continue to be punished, ostracised, marginalised, forgotten?
-And those who have never had the chance or opportunity to learn the teachings of Jesus? Of Buddha? Of Moses? Or even of their own mothers and fathers?
-What of those who fancy the best things in life and take them from those who have honestly acquired them?
-What of those who work from dawn till late at night and still cannot make it to the end of the month?
-Shouldn’t there be a way to reach them?
-No…

-Did you reach them ever?
