Egon Schiele: «Casas junto al rió»/»Houses on the River» (Español/Engish)

Vida y obra de Egon Schiele, pintor expresionista austriaco
(Egon Schiele, expresionista austriaco, 1890-1918/Egon Schiele, Austrian expressionist, 1890-1918)

I have already offered you all a video on Egon Schiele, one of my favourites of the German Expressionists, although he was Austrian. But today I want to bring you one of his works that I saw at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza de Madrid that will show you a different type of work, a different way in which he expressed his creativity and his philosophy in art.

#art, «The Drummer Man» is Now a Fine Art Print

(Art Digital image by and property of Francisco Bravo Cabrera/All Rights Reserved)

When I decided to make and sell fine art prints of my images, my drawings, my paintings, I chose Fine Art America, and still it is the only company I use. They handle the entire transaction and they ship quickly to you after customising your order. I have a gallery at Fine Art America that I encourage you to visit, and do it often as I often change the images… The above is what is referred to as an «Art Print», but there are many other ways to enjoy your fine art print of The Drummer Man. For example you can have the framed version, the metal version and the wood version, as well as the canvas or paper (special artists paper) version. It is up to you but this is a real affordable way to have original art in your walls.

desnuda,

bajo las aguas de un rio,

bajo la luz de la luna,

encontraremos tu cara,

sonriente,

desvanecida,

aquí lo sabemos todo

lo que es,

será algún día.

#art, Special Issue: Amrita Sher-Gil

(Amrita Sher-Gil/Photo Sotheby’s)

Amrita was born in Hungary (1913) and died in Pakistan (1941), but is considered an Indian artist. Her father was Punjabi Sikh and her mother was Hungarian of Jewish origin. She is known as the «Frida Kahlo» of India, yet it is said that she is the most important Indian painter of the 20th century. Well, I don’t understand this because if she is so important, she cannot have any relation with someone as unimportant as Frida Kahlo. Amrita was the only Asian to exhibit at the Grand Salon of Paris… She studied painting in Paris… her influences were Renoir, Modigliani, Cézanne, and Gauguin, from the latter she drew inspiration to paint her Self Portrait as a Tahitian (1934)… In 1934, she returned to India and began painting scenes of her country. In 1937, she moved to Hungary. In 1941, she relocated to Lahore where she unexpectedly passed away after a few days. She was 28 years old.

#art, Artistas internacionales: Octavio Ocampo, México – International Artists/Mexico

(Revista Cierto)

His work is metamorphic, and yes, I know you are going to say, what the hell is that? And I am going to tell you and show you, relax…

(Cultura Colectiva)

¿Te has dado cuenta?

+++++

Look closely at the above painting and tell me what you see. Pay attention. You’re looking at a metamorphic painting. The figures form… with the magical abilities of the painter… something else, another figure, or figures, completely changing the composition. Have you noticed?

Octavio Ocampo, Mexican, born in Guanajuato in 1943, is a painter and sculptor. I confess that I had no idea of his existence and had never seen his work, but once it was shown to me, I found it very interesting and it reminded me of the work of the great Italian master Arcimboldo.

Ocampo studied painting at the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving La Esmeralda Bellas Artes and from 1972 to 1974 at the San Francisco Art Institute, in San Francisco, California. In addition, he designed the scenery for over 120 Mexican and US films, as well as for many theatre productions. He has exhibited in Mexico, the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East. And it’s easy to see why; he is an artist with great vision, good taste, and a lot, but a lot of magic…

Now I ask you, were you familiar with him? Well, if not, here it is…

En las orillas del Mar d’Ella – On the Shores of the Sea of She…

(Image property of FBC, Omnia Caelum Studios Valencia. All Rights Reserved)

Todo lo ha dominado el hombre…

¡Pues claro!

Man dominated everything…

Of course! Since the dawn of the Universe we have been told that He created he and from a rib He took from he, He made her, a woman. And quite disobedient she turned out to be. She ate of the forbidden fruit and gave he to eat as well. This caused he and she to be expulsed from Eden, or Paradise. Well, something like that…

Ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, Persia, China, and the rest of the great empires of antiquity, were all dominated by men, e.g. Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Ramses II, Cyrus the Great and Kangxi the Great…

Can this mean that there were no women capable of governing an empire?

Come on! Of course not! But they were not allowed to do anything like that. Yes, we have heard about the Queen of the South, Cleopatra, Joan d’Arc and other queens of medieval times and the Renaissance, but there weren’t really that many.

And what about the normal, common woman, who was neither a queen or a saint? The one who wanted to be a writer, a painter, a scholar or a scientist?

But things have changed. Steps are being taken towards equality. Women are respected more as are others who have always been discriminated.

Because of that I stood at the shores of the Sea of She to watch her swim like a mermaid…

Well, this is a post from two years ago, but I think it is a good one to bring forth once more. What do you think?

Francisco Bravo Cabrera, 16 AUG 2022, Valencia, España.

Dear Diary, page 10

(Diving in the Aegean Sea/All Rights Reserved)

I am sailing through the beautiful Aegean Sea off the coast of Turkey. It’s nice and hot but the waters, oh, those crystal clear blue waters are about 15 degrees Celsius, so a wet suit is my choice before I can no longer resist the desire to dive in and take a look below the surface. Later I climb back into our yacht and pour myself a cold Efes beer in a frozen glass. Yes! The joys of sailing…

And I started thinking about the times that we are crossing through. We are travelling over borders that we should respect and never desecrate. I am seeing thoughts, images reflected on to the vaulty cavities of my mind, things that I would have never imagined. These are horrific that I could have guessed would only be included in cheap sci-fi movies or B grade horror flicks.

The new Inquisitors have arrived and they populate the highest spheres of political power. The new Moralists are governing us with their Medieval mentality and fables and worse, they are indoctrinating our young ones in order to turn them into sheep.

And I am going to leave it there. Don’t force me dear diary to continue because I am thoroughly grossed out by these thoughts that reflect our present day reality. I prefer to stick to the fantasy that has always, or almost always been our preferred topic when you, dear diary, accompany me through thoughts.

Ciao…
