A Casual Chat With Cindy…

Edwin Starr said «War, what is it good for, absolutely nothing!». It was a great line for a song, but not a rather realistic statement. War is the stupidest invention of mankind, for sure, but it is and has been a reality for mankind since Creation. War creates suffering, death, destruction, displaces people, costs money and what does it accomplish?
Well, some wars are total and complete nonsense and we have seen too many of those in the last few decades. If you have to spend more than a brief sentence explaining the reasons for a war, (like a domino effect), you have no valid reason. A rightful war can, and should, be explained with a word or two. WWII was a war to free the world from the madness of Hitler and the Nazis. Easy to explain, but try to explain the war between the US and Iraq? Not too easy…
Now there are new wars, in our plane of existence and one will be quite justified asking «when will it ever end» and I suspect never. As long as there is evil in the world there will be war. Wars for conquest, war to justify political, racial or religious bigotry and hatred, and war for gain. Those seem to be the primary reasons in this day and age. Suffering generated for someone’s gain. There are too many weapons in this world and too much ambition of power. Mankind is not interested in love, and I wonder have men ever been?
Let’s give peace a chance like John Lennon said…

A lot of great things happened in 1957 but for me the most important one was the meeting between John and Paul that led to the eventual creation of The Beatles…
GRACIAS – CHEERS

Ok so this band is classified as American-British, so what? Who makes the bloody rules? Anyways, Chrissie Hynde is from Ohio. In 1973 she moved to London and then, eventually, The Pretenders happened. I loved this band in the early 1980’s. Hits? Wow! They’ve a million! Some of my faves is «Back on the Chaingang» (1982); «Brass in Pocket» (1979) and «Don’t Get Me Wrong» (1986) and all the rest. I think you get it.

It was 1979 and the band released their first single, a Kink’s song «Stop Your Sobbing«, then «Kid» and in January 1980, (forty five years ago!) they had their first No. 1 (UK), «Brass in Pocket«, and number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 (US).
So, you, yes you, did you like the Pretenders?

GRACIAS

The Torah commands us to love God above all things, our neighbour, and to love the stranger. And although it does not say to love our parents it does say that we are commanded to respect and honor them. Well, you cannot respect someone that you do not love and love ultimately leads you to honour the loved one, so it went without saying in the Torah, but we are indirectly commended to love our parents as well…
Then he said «love is not jealous…»
Jealousy is a disease that corrupts the mind of the jealous person, disturbs the peace of mind of the object person and destroys relationships. Jealousy is insecurity, lack of self-control and lack of self-worth. Those deficiencies can lead one to a very rocky existence and drive most others around away. Jealousy is not love as it is not giving. It is an obsession and a desire for control. The jealous person senses that he/she is unworthy of the other person’s respect and love and fidelity, therefore he/she suffers the pain of their insecurity and the distress it causes.
Saint Paul, in his epistle, to the Corinthians (I Corinthians 13) clearly states what love is and his definition/explanation cannot be surpassed. We will discuss the various aspects of love as defined in I Corinthians 13:4-7 and I would suggest that you take a look at those verses as they can make a positive impression on your life and improve the quality of your relationships. We should remember that the Bible is a holy book.
As we learn and live we should strive to love more. To love God (whichever way you conceive God to be) and to love your neighbour. And if you do not know who your neighbour is, well think of anyone in need as your neighbour, needing your love and your succour. And I would remind everybody in every country of the world that we must include, among those we love, the stranger, the refugee, the desperate ones that have travelled far and crossed many borders to get to your «home» which is now their home for God made the world for all His children.
Chapter 3 is forthcoming with the rest of I Corinthians 13:4-7. Many blessings
